Explore The Haunted House From THE CONJURING 2 in 360 Degree Video

$

James Wan's The Conjuring is one of the most terrifying movies I've seen in a long time. It's a haunted house classic that stands among the best in a genre which is absolutely stuffed packed with great entries. After flirting with the idea of leaving the horror genre once and for all, and directing the smash action hit Furious 7, Wan is coming back this summer with The Conjuring 2, which looks like a fittingly horrifying follow-up to the first movie and continues the journey of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) as they travel abroad to help a family plagued with a demonic presence.

Warner Bros. just sent over a new 360 degree video that takes viewers inside the new haunted house, and allows you the freedom to turn the camera in whatever direction you choose. Beware, though - the jump scares work best if the camera is in the right place. Ready for something spooky? Check this out:

The Conjuring 2 hits theaters on June 10, 2016.

What Did You Think About The PREACHER Series Premiere?

Right before the series premiere of Preacher started last night, it finally sank in for me: holy crap, this is really happening. This totally insane, violent, over the top comic book series really, truly, actually made it to television after years of people trying to adapt it into either a show or a movie. I didn't think it was ever going to happen, but here we are...and I thought the premiere was pretty damn solid. It didn't follow the comics beat for beat (we already knew it wouldn't), but it absolutely captured the soul of the comics and managed to translate that into a show that is simultaneously recognizable and fresh. This is going to be a hell of a series.

John Carpenter Returning to Produce Next HALLOWEEN Film!

Blumhouse Productions has announced that they will be developing a new Halloween film, and the best part about this is John Carpenter is returning to the franchise to executive produce the movie! Carpenter is the creator of the legendary monster Michael Myers and the Halloween franchise. He directed the classic first film and was a producer on the franchise through the third film. According to the filmmaker he wants this next sequel to be the scariest of them all. He says:

“38 years after the original Halloween. I’m going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all.”

Producer Jason Blum said that he hopes Carpenter will also return to score the new Halloween movie. As many of you already know, Carpenter created the iconic score for the original film. It would be so cool to see him come back to do it again. Producer Malek Akkad had this to say in a statement:

“Trancas International is thrilled to be teaming up with Miramax on Halloween, one of the most enduring horror franchises in film. We are also very excited to be working with Jason Blum and the whole team at Blumhouse. Together, along with the return of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, we are eager to make a film that will be a milestone in the franchise’s legacy and that will excite the fans, young and old.”

Zanne Devine, Miramax’s EVP Film & Television added:

“Malek Akkad’s legacy with the Halloween’franchise accompanied by Blumhouse’s unprecedented talent in the horror genre lays the foundation of a formidable team to create the next chapter of this iconic fan favorite. Having John Carpenter godfather the reboot of the iconic franchise he helped create brings it full circle. We couldn’t be in better company bringing Halloween back to the big screen.”

Jason Blum said:

“Halloween is one of those milestone films that inspired everyone at our company to get into the world of scary movies. The great Malek Akkad and John Carpenter have a special place in the hearts of all genre fans and we are so excited that Miramax brought us together. We cannot wait to find and collaborate with the right filmmaker to give Halloween fans the movie they deserve.”

It's pretty amazing that they were able to lure Carpenter back to the franchise. I've hated what has been done with the franchise recently, and if anyone can help breathe life back into it and do something great with it, it's Carpenter. This will be the tenth film in the franchise, and I really hope that Carpenter is able to bring back that horrific magic that the franchise has since lost.

Vanilla Ice Performs "Ninja Rap" at TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2 Premiere

Go ninja, go ninja, go!

Vanilla Ice surprised attendees at the premiere of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows at Madison Square Garden when he performed his classic 1991 song "Ninja Rap." The song was made famous when he performed it in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. Of course, he was joined on stage by four dancers dressed up in costumes that looked like cheap versions of the original Ninja Turtle movie costumes. It's a nice throwback to the Ninja Turtles films that many of us grew up with. For those of you not familiar with the original song, or you just want to relive its cheesy awesomeness, I included the original scene from The Secret of the Ooze below.

Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to theaters this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is directed by Dave Green and stars: Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Brad Garrett, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Stephen Amell, Tyler Perry, Brian Tee, Laura Linney, Sheamus, and Gary Anthony Williams.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will land in theaters June 3rd, 2016.

Additional Details on Batman in SUICIDE SQUAD and the Villains He’ll Interact With

One of the things that I’m most curious about seeing in Suicide Squad is how exactly Ben Affleck's Batman will fit into the story. We’ve seen a good amount of footage of him in the trailers for the film, and there’s been a lot of information being revealed about his involvement and how he will have a larger role in the film than we originally expected. It’s been said that he will have just the right amount of screen time and that there is going to be some time jumping from the past to the present.

Thanks to Batman-News, we have some new information about the villains that Batman will actually interact with in the film. We know that he will have an action-packed sequence involving The Joker and Harley Quinn. We’ve seen parts of the chase sequence from that in the trailers. The site reports that there won’t be much interaction with Jared Leto’s Joker in this scene. Apparently, most of that scene will show him interacting with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. As we have seen in the trailer, Joker's car plunges into a lake, and Batman pulls Harley out of it safely.

They also report that Batman will have a couple of scenes with Will Smith’s Deadshot. They don’t exactly say what the scene will entail, but they do say it one will be an emotional scene and the other will be a flashback.

Smith previously teased his character’s interaction with Batman saying, "The Bat does cross my path... and, ya know, it's not completely pleasant.” I don’t imagine it would be! It’s cool to see that the two might have more than one scene together, though.

It doesn’t sound like we will see Batman crossing paths with all of the villains in the movie, but so far it looks like we’ll see him come in contact with Joker, Harley Quinn, and Deadshot, and Killer Croc is another character that has been teased in the past. STAR WARS Drones Take Flight in Amazing Video

I want the life the Digital Corridors team has and I want it now! Okay, I am thankful to have the job I do, but would it kill the GT team to budget for some Star Wars inspired X-Wing and Tie-Fighter drones that I could fly at my leisure? I wouldn't even shoot a video I would just fly them around the office...maybe put notes on them to send people.

What I do with these drones doesn't have to be interesting, the fact is they have them and I don't, and I'm SUPER jealous about it. You will be too when you watch the video.

ALIEN: COVENANT - Eerie Photos from the Set and Explosive Video

Ridley Scott is currently shooting Alien: Covenant in an undisclosed location in Sydney, Australia. Someone found out where they were shooting and ended up snapping a few photos that reveal some creepy, eerie images. I also included a video from the New Zealand set featuring an explosion.

The set photos feature some intense visuals of scorched human bodies that are twisted in agony and despair. It’s pointed out that some of these people are being attacked by extra-terrestrial beings. There are no details on what this all means, so it’s completely open for fan speculation. One thing is for sure, it looks pretty horrifying.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus -- and connects directly to Scott's 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The film is said to include every version of xenomorph, and Scott is shooting for a hard R rating. The movie also stars Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, and Danny McBride. Alien: Covenant is set to be released on August 4th, 2017.

Man, talk about a guy who's been off the radar for awhile! I forgot how much I missed Martin Lawrence, and how badly I want him back in films! Until then, I guess I can pretend this Game of Thrones promo is real and not just re-edited footage with inserts from Black Knight! A man can dream, right? A man has said, I'm sure of it.

Fun Trailer for the Animated Musical SING with Matthew McConaughey

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have released a fun new trailer for the animated musical film Sing. The movie will feature 85 hit songs that many of you will probably be familiar with. The movie has an incredible voice cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, and Tori Kelly.

The film’s story basically revolves around an American Idol-like singing competition… with animals. According to the film's tag line, this is a feature about “finding the shining star that lives inside all of us.” Here’s the synopsis:

Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon (McConaughey), a dapper Koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal optimist—okay, maybe a bit of a scoundrel—who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.
Five lead contestants emerge: A mouse (Seth MacFarlane) who croons as smoothly as he cons, a timid teenage elephant (Tori Kelly) with an enormous case of stage fright, an overtaxed mother (Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon) run ragged tending a litter of 25 piglets, a young gangster gorilla (Taron Egerton) looking to break free of his family’s felonies, and a punk-rock porcupine (Scarlett Johansson) struggling to shed her arrogant boyfriend and go solo. Each animal arrives under Buster’s marquee believing that this is their shot to change the course of their life.

Sing was written and directed by Garth Jennings (Son of Rambow, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), and it will be released on December 21st, 2016.

"Never forget what he can do."

Since before we saw any footage of director Paul GreengrassJason Bourne film, we were hearing a lot of hype about a car chase in the film that takes place in Las Vegas. We got a little taste of it in the last trailer for the film, but today we have a TV spot to share with you that highlights this insane-looking, action-packed scene. It seriously looks pretty damn exciting. They spared no expense bringing this chase sequence to life.

The next chapter in the story finds Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows, and he's ready to fight for his life… again.

Julia Stiles reprises her role of Nicky, and Alicia Vikander is also set to star alongside franchise newcomers Tommy Lee Jones, Riz Ahmed, Vincent Cassell, and Scott Shepherd. Jones is playing a high-ranking CIA official, and Cassell will be taking on the role of the villain who is an assassin tracking down Jason Bourne.

Jason Bourne is scheduled to hit theaters on July 29th, 2016.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Gets an Awesome Anime Art Series

Japanese Artist Bin1 Production recreated several awesome scenes from Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War in the style of anime. The artist mashed the characters from Civil War with the anime girls from Namco Bandai’s The Idolmaster, and as you will see, the results are pretty radical. It’d be fun to actually see these designs get animated. Some talented fan out there with the skills should at least make an anime-style opening title sequence with these anime character designs.

ROCKET LEAGUE Now Supports Crossplay Between Xbox One And PC

Mark Ruffalo Says THOR: RAGNAROK Is an "Intergalactic Buddy Road Movie" and Teases Hela

$

There's no question that Thor: Ragnarok is going to be different from any Marvel movie that's been made so far. I've enjoyed both Thor movies, but I think director Taika Waititi is going to give us the best one yet. The guy has a unique sense of humor, storytelling, and style of adventure. He previously talked about this, saying:

“My strength in this is bringing my style of humor, which is probably a very different style of humor. They've had good jokes in them before, but I think where I come from is maybe a fresher style. It could just shake the entire thing up a bit.”

As you all know by now, The Hulk is going to have a major role in the film, and he will be teaming up with Thor on a wild adventure. Mark Ruffalo previously said that Thor: Ragnarok would be a Midnight Run-style road movie. In a recent interview with E! Online, Ruffalo talked a little bit more about what we can expect to see from the film and also teased Cate Blanchett's villain. He said:

"It's an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor. I think it will be smashing. You'll see a lot more Hulk. The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger."

Talk then turned to the villain Hela, who Blanchett is set to play. I can't wait to see what Marvel does with her in the MCU, but we previously got a piece of concept art teasing her look. Ruffalo went on to tease the villain saying:

"She plays the worst of the worst. So evil. She is going to kill us. It's such a great part she gets to play."

I'm not sure if the whole "kill us" us thing is just him playfully using words, or if she is actually going to kill them. Hela is the goddess of death and she rules over the dead in the realms of Hel and Niflheim. She also has the power to claim the souls of people and bring them back to life. It makes me wonder if part of this next Thor adventure will see Hulk and Thor being killed at one point and having to fight their way back out of Hel. I guess we'll just have to wait and see! All I know is that anything can happen!

You can catch up on all of our Thor: Ragnarok news here. The movie is set to be released on November 3rd, 2017.

Watch Some Cool Video Footage from the STAR TREK BEYOND Fan Event

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a Star Trek Beyond fan event that took place on the Paramount Pictures studio lot. It was an incredibly cool event hosted by none other than Adam Savage. The studio premiered the trailer there and also showed off a few clips from the movie. After watching everything they shared, I am convinced that this third film in the updated franchise will be the best one so far.

J.J. Abrams, Justin Lin, Chris Pine, Karl Urban, and Zachary Quinto all showed up to talk about the film, and below you’ll find some video footage of them and the event thanks to Trailer Addict. The event was also put on to celebrate 50 years of the classic sci-fi franchise, and I also included video messages from Simon Pegg, Slash, and Denise Okuda explaining why they love Star Trek in a segment called 50 in :50.

There was also a wonderful tribute to Leonard Nimoy at the event. His family was in attendance as the Paramount Studio lot named a street after the iconic actor. I included an image of that for you to check out below all the videos. I’m way in the back standing on my tippy-toes holding up the Vulcan salute.

Star Trek Beyond opens in theaters on July 22nd, 2016, and it will have its world premiere at Comic-Con. You can get the details for that here.

Heartwarming New Trailer For Pixar's FINDING DORY Leads Dory Home

Disney has released a new full trailer for Pixar's Finding Dory and it offers us our best look yet at the new adventure that awaits Dory, Marlin, and Nemo. The movie takes place six months after the events of the first film and Dory remembers that she has parents. It's at this point that the three embark on a journey to go and find them. This leads them to a Marine Life Institute where we will be introduced to several other silly, colorful, oceanic characters.

I really loved Finding Nemo and this sequel looks like it will be just as fun and entertaining. There's a lot of new footage in this latest trailer that highlights some of the great humor and heartwarming moments that we'll see in Pixar's latest story. I can't wait to take my kids to see it.

Andrew Stanton is back to direct the film which features the voice talent of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Ed O'Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, Eugene Levy, and Diane Keaton. Finding Dory swims into theaters June 17, 2016.

Video Analyzes and Highlights The Timelessness of CALVIN AND HOBBES

There's no denying the popularity of Calvin and Hobbes. We at GeekTyrant seem to post some spin-off fan art mixing the series with a different popular movie about once a month, and if you don't see it here, you've probably seen Calvin peeing on something on the back of someone's truck. Bill Watterson's creation isn't just iconic, however — it's also timeless. No matter what age you are, you can appreciate the comic strip that transformed the way we view "low art."

Kaptainkristian understands this, and celebrates it in his latest video.

Compelling Trailer For Matthew McConaughey’s Civil War Film FREE STATE OF JONES

$

An intense new trailer has been released for Matthew McConaughey’s upcoming Civil War film Free State of Jones. The movie is based on a true story of a defiant Southern farmer named Newt Knight, who is played by McConaughey. Knight is a man who rose up against the Confederacy and organized an armed rebellion to fight back. There’s a lot of great talent involved with the development of this movie and it looks like it’s going to be powerful and intense.

The movie was directed by Gary Ross, who has made a few fantastic films in his career such as The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit, and Pleasantville. Free State of Jones seems like a great project for him to take on and I’m sure he’s made something audiences will enjoy. As a Civil War history buff, I’m excited to see this.

Banding together with other small farmers and local slaves, Knight launched an uprising that led Jones County, Mississippi to secede from the Confederacy, creating a Free State of Jones. Knight continued his struggle into Reconstruction, distinguishing him as a compelling, if controversial, figure of defiance long beyond the War.

The movie also stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights), Keri Russell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), and Mahershala Ali (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, House of Cards). Free State of Jones is set to hit theaters on June 24, 2016.

Seth Rogen Introduces SAUSAGE PARTY as a Twisted Walt Disney in New TV Spot

$

0

I'm looking forward to Sausage Party, but even if I don't end up loving the movie, I respect the ambition behind creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and their decision to make the first R-rated CG animated movie. CG productions like this are massive undertakings, so this is more than just some little comedy that they threw together; this has been years in the making, and they're taking a risk that people will want to see R-rated hijinks in a style that's mostly been dominated by family-friendly content from studios like Disney.

Rogen is obviously aware of this, so the latest TV spot for the new film parodies that idea and has Rogen himself dressed up as a twisted version of Walt Disney in something he calls an "Animation-Imaginatorium," interacting with his animated creation just like Disney used to do.

Sausage Party opens on August 12, 2016.

Every time I watch a kung fu movie, I always find myself asking the same question:

"That's cool, but can they really kick ass in real life?"

While with some actors I remain unconvinced, I will never doubt Bruce Lee. The movement and speed this guy has is enough to snap your neck without the camera witnessing it! The footage below is taken from his documentary I Am Bruce Lee, and features Bruce demo-ing kung fu defense on a spectator. Even in a suit this guy has superhuman speed! Truly remarkable.
