Margot Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson May Reunite For GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN

$

Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie and Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Domhnall Gleeson shared the screen together in the excellent time travel romance About Time, and now it appears they might share it once more in a biopic about the creator of beloved children's character Winnie The Pooh. Variety reports that Robbie is in early negotiations to join Goodbye Christopher Robin, which already has Gleeson on board.

Simon Curtis (My Week With Marilyn) is directing, and the story "revolves around 'Winnie the Pooh' creator A.A. Milne and the relationship between him and his son Robin. Robin, who initially had a difficult relationship with his father, served as the inspiration for the character of Christopher Robin. Pooh was named after Robin’s teddy bear. The real Robin’s toys also lent their names to other Winnie the Pooh characters such as Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet."

If the deal goes through, Robbie will play Milne's wife. I thought she and Gleeson had good chemistry in About Time, so I'm sure they'll be a believable couple here.

Stephen King Offers an Exciting Clue About THE DARK TOWER Movies That Explains a Lot

We've been learning a lot of details recently about The Dark Tower movie that's currently in production. The first movie seems to be mixing things up a lot and pulling several different aspects and characters from other books in the series. It seems like they are really shaking up how everything plays out. Well, it looks like there might be a good reason for that and author Stephen King teases what that reason could be. This is the image King recently posted featuring the Horn of Eld. What follows the image is fan speculation about what it means, but to get into it I had to include SPOILERS from the book series.

If you've read the books, then you know that after Roland's long journey, after he reaches the tower he realizes that he has done this all before. Roland has made this trip to the tower countless times. The thing is, every time he has made this journey it has been different. It just keeps resetting for him.

At the end of the story, Roland finds himself at the start of his journey in the first book. Only this time there's something different. He has something that he never had before. That something is the Horn of Eld, which is pictured above. Once he realizes what he has, the voice of the character Gan tells him, “This is your promise that things may be different, Roland – that there may yet be rest. Even salvation.”

Here's the theory: what if this new film and TV series is the new journey of Roland to the tower!? What if this set of films is actually a sequel to the entire book series!? This would give us a completely different version of Roland's journey, which would explain all of the mixing of characters and details taken from the books. This would be freakin' awesome if this is what the plan for the films are! Why else would King post this image?

On top of that, the image comes along with the caption, "Last Time Around." Does that mean this will be Roland's final journey? Will this be the last time that things don't reset for him? I'm freakin' excited about this! It makes complete sense to me.

The film is currently being directed by Nikolaj Arcel and it's shooting in South Africa. The movie stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain, Matthew McConaughey as Randall Flagg, Abbey Lee as Tirana, Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers and Fran Kranz as Pimli. Katheryn Winnick also has joined the film, as well as Jackie Earl Haley as the villain, Richard SayreThe first film in the franchise is set for release on February 17, 2017. You can see some photos from the set of Elba in the film here in case you missed them.

What do you think about this fan theory?

Vampire Clowns Attack in Trailer For B-Movie THE NIGHT WATCHMEN

It's bloodthirsty clowns and zombie vampires galore in the trailer for The Night Watchmen, a B-movie horror comedy that's packed with blood, guts, and one-liners. This is the kind of movie I would have loved in high school, and I'm sure there's a large audience out there who will appreciate its tongue-in-cheek take on the genre. According to Deadline, the movie is being shopped around right now at the Cannes Film Festival, so here's hoping it finds a home so tons of people can have viewing parties and laugh their way through this with friends.

Warning: The trailer is NSFW due to some brief nudity.

Three inept night watchmen, aided by a young rookie and a fearless tabloid journalist, fight an epic battle to save their lives. A mistaken warehouse delivery unleashes a horde of hungry vampires, and these unlikely heroes must not only save themselves but also stop the scourge that threatens to take over the city of Baltimore.

Seth Rogen Plays Every Role in Parody Trailer For His Own Show, PREACHER

After nearly 20 years, an adaptation of the beloved comic series Preacher is finally coming to live-action this weekend. The TV show premieres this Sunday night (watch the first four minutes here) thanks to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the creators/executive producers who did what so many other Hollywood players couldn't and found a way to bring the comic to life. Rogen, of course, is best known as an actor, so it's no surprise that a video has popped up in which he's sweded the trailer for his own show and recast himself in every single role.

And instead of having to watch the original trailer separately, you can see Rogen's reenactment and then a side-by-side comparison with the original all in the same video. Nicely done, AMC.

SAUSAGE PARTY Trailer: Foods Discover The Horrible Truth About Their Fate

Sony has released a new trailer for Sausage Party, the first R-rated CG animated film. This is a green-band trailer, so it's not as explicit as the red-band version that came out a couple of months ago, but there's some new footage and a couple of new jokes in here that should be enough to get you interested. There's also a new pun-based poster (above) that contains some sexual innuendo; I'm guessing the actual movie won't bother wasting time with subtlety and will instead fully embrace its R-rating.

The film arrives in theaters on August 12th, so we're less than three months away.

Sausage Party, the first R-rated CG animated movie, is about one sausage leading a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence and what really happens when they become chosen to leave the grocery store.  The film features the vocal talents of a who's who of today's comedy stars - Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek.

EVERYTHING IS A REMIX Tackles J.J. Abrams and STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

We've written extensively on the site about how J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens at times feels very much like a copy of George Lucas' original Star Wars (with some slight twists here and there), and we've even written about video comparisons between the two films. But I've been waiting for Everything is a Remix to weigh in on this, and their new video does not disappoint. They track a majority Abrams' career and measure the specific elements of the movie that were copied against the ones that were significantly transformed, and they talk about how the familiarity we all felt when watching the film was obviously an intentional choice on the part of the filmmakers. The Epic Superhero TV Crossover You've Always Wanted is Officially Coming to The CW

We've seen crossovers between Arrow, The Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, but now that Supergirl is making her home on The CW, the mega-superhero TV crossover you've always wanted to see is going to happen...for real. Entertainment Weekly has the story:

Ahead of its upfront presentation on Thursday, CW chief Mark Pedowitz touted Supergirl’s move from CBS to The CW. “Just imagine what our superhero crossover episode is going to look like come December,” he told reporters, later following up by calling the event “our biggest one ever.”
Pedowitz then made it official during The CW’s upfront presentation. “Next season, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and now Supergirl will join forces in our annual crossover event, our biggest ever,” he said.

No huge surprise about that — considering how well the Flash/Supergirl crossover did, it seemed like a given that these crossover episodes would continue in the DC TV Universe, and now that they're all on the same network, it was only a matter of time. Sounds like fans won't have too long to wait, either: December is only seven months away, so get pumped.

Now Ron Perlman Wants to Play Cable in DEADPOOL 2

Deadpool fans are all eagerly anticipating the day when director Tim Miller and Fox reveal who they will cast in the role of Cable in the sequel. While we wait for that, several other actor's names are being thrown into the mix. Some of those names include Jon Hamm, Stephen Lang, Liam Neeson, and Dolph Lundgren. Now Ron Perlman is looking to get into the Cable action! He's posted a couple images with comments on his Facebook account saying things like, "I'm the only one with Cable's friggin hair!", which you can't really argue with!

When previously talking about the kind of actor they were looking for to take on the role, screenwriter Rhett Reese said:

“Strength, gravitas, a purposefulness that Deadpool doesn’t have. Deadpool’s kind of got ADD, and we think of Cable as someone who locks onto something and is going to get that thing solved no matter what.”

I imagine Perlman might be a little older than what the creative team is looking for, but if they did decide to go older, Perlman is definitely their man! There's no doubt he would be awesome. Cable will make his feature film debut in Deadpool 2, which is set to be released in 2017.

I'll have a review of writer/director Shane Black's new 1970s-set detective comedy The Nice Guys for you sometime tomorrow, but in the meantime, enjoy the latest piece of the film's excellent marketing campaign. It's an animated video of stars Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling done in 1960s style, like the intro the old Adam West Batman TV show. Screenings for the film begin tonight, and you should definitely check it out if you like buddy comedies and any of Black's previous work.

BLACK PANTHER Casting Call Teases Which Characters Might Be a Part of The Film

$

Casting calls aren't always super reliable when it comes to information that makes it all the way through a film's production to the final theatrical version. Scripts can change, characters can be cut, etc. But it's a slow morning, a new casting call for Marvel Studios' Black Panther is circulating online, and I'm really looking forward to that movie, so let's talk about it.

First off, let's recap what we know for sure about the film. Creed director Ryan Coogler is co-writing the script and directing, Chadwick Boseman will reprise the title role after the character made his live-action debut in Captain America: Civil WarLupita Nyong'o and Michael B. Jordan are on board to co-star (John Boyega was rumored to be a part of the cast, but there's nothing concrete that indicates he's actually joining the movie...yet), and Coogler says it will be his most personal movie to date. All of that sounds great!

Now, let's take a look at some of the rumored characters that are being cast. Keep in mind that a lot of this may be either A) false information or B) true, but only for the time being. One thing that sort of sticks out as a potential red flag is that they say Andy Serkis' Ulysses Klaw is coming back, but they describe him as the man who betrayed and killed T'Challa's father, T'Chaka. I'm pretty sure Klaw wasn't in Civil War and didn't have anything to do with T'Chaka's death, so maybe they're just describing the character from the comics? The report also mentions that the character of Monica Lynne will be in the film, which we guessed would be the part Nyong'o would be playing, and Martin Freeman's Everett Ross would return, neither of which is a big surprise (assuming, of course, that it's true). On to the new stuff:

• N’GASSI – Adviser to T’Challa, acting regent when he goes away on missions.
• OKOYE – One of the former Dora Milaje, a ceremonial betrothed/bodyguard of T’Challa. Okoye is of the J’Kuwali tribe and acted as a traditional, proper concomitant to the king, speaking only to the king and only in Hausa, an African dialect not widely spoken in Wakanda and thus affording the king and his wives a measure of privacy.
• QUEEN DIVINE JUSTICE – The street-smart queen of the Jabari tribe of Wakanda raised in Chicago, and former Dora Milaje (ceremonial betrothed/bodyguard) of T’Challa. She originally went by the name Chanté Giovanni Brown.
• W’KABI – T’Challa’s competent second-in-command, completely loyal to his liege.
• ZURI – A grumpy and gigantic elderly warrior. A close friend of the late T’Chaka, and one of T’Challa’s most trusted advisers.
• REVEREND ACHEBE – A poor farmer somewhere in South Africa, Achebe sold his soul to the demon Mephisto. He is portrayed as a grinning, unpredictable, lunatic, warrior-mystic, regularly talking to his hand-puppet Daki with delusions that it’s truly alive, and engineering complex plots of social unrest for profit or entertainment.
• ERIK KILLMONGER – A powerful warrior and strategic genius in politics and economics.
• MALICE – Wakandan Mutate with superhuman strength, speed, and agility. She is a former Dora Milaje (ceremonial betrothed/bodyguard) of T’Challa.
• MAN-APE – Ruler of the Jabari Tribe, a recognized micronation within Wakanda’s borders. M’Baku was Wakanda’s greatest warrior second only to the Black Panther. He plotted to usurp the throne with the help of the outlawed White Gorilla cult who were ancient rivals of the Black Panther cult, which basically made them heretics since Panther worship is the state religion. Founding member of the “Pan African Congress on the Treatment of Superhumans”.
• WHITE WOLF – T’Challa’s adopted elder brother and the former leader of the Hatut Zeraze, the espionage elite police of Wakanda. Exiled by T’Challa, due to using torture and assassinations in his zeal to root out potential threats to national security.

When someone's last name is "Killmonger," you've gotta wonder how much destiny comes into play when he ends up being a bad guy. These character names will mean a lot more to those of you who have read the comics, and since I admittedly have not, I'll leave all of the hardcore analyzing/dissecting to you in the comments below. Have at it!

Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, 2018.

Extended Trailer For ARROW's Season 4 Finale Puts Star City on The Brink of Destruction

Here's the brand new extended trailer for this week's season 4 finale of Arrow, which is entitled "Schism." The CW has released an official synopsis for the episode as well:

“Oliver (Stephen Amell) teams up with a surprising force in an attempt to stop Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and his magic once and for all.”

The very end of the trailer is more than a little reminiscent of the big airport battle in Captain America: Civil War, with the whole "two teams running directly at each other to fight" thing.

The season finale airs this Wednesday on The CW.

Dead Robin in BATMAN V SUPERMAN Confirmed To Be Jason Todd

$

We heard a lot of rumors leading up to the released of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that the version of Robin was Jason Todd. There's been no confirmation of that until now, and apparently Warner Bros. didn't want that information to get out.

There was a video posted on the official Facebook page of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood and in it, the tour guide clearly states that Jason Todd is the Robin that was killed by The Joker. He says in the video:

“This was one of the big things from Batman v Superman, right across this way. The Jason Todd/Robin suit. Spray painted on the front, ‘Ha-Ha. The joke’s on you Batman.’ Those of you that know the storyline, know what happened to this Robin.”

That video has since been removed from the Facebook page, which tells me this is information that the filmmakers didn't want to reveal just yet. I imagine that's because the character will play a role in the upcoming Batman solo film which has been previously rumored. As most of you already know, years after The Joker killed Jason Todd, Todd was resurrected as The Red Hood, an anti-hero who isn't shy about killing people.

I already assumed that Todd was this version of Robin and I know many of you did as well, but now that we pretty much have official confirmation, it lends some credence to the rumors that have been leaking out regarding The Batman film currently being developed by Ben Affleck

GARFIELD Films Rebooting as a Fully CG Animated Franchise

$

Keep an eye on your lasagna, because that Italian food-loving fat cat Garfield is getting a brand new series of movies. Alcon Entertainment (the same production company behind the upcoming Blade Runner 2) has acquired exclusive rights to produce animated movies based on the iconic comic strip. For those who care enough about this to hope that the movies stay true to the character, you'll be pleased to know that Garfield creator Jim Davis is on board as an executive producer.

The company's goal is "to build a franchise of fully CG-animated Garfield feature films," so prepare yourselves for seeing Garfield TV spots sporadically every few years for the next decade. This new rash of movies will be different than the Bill Murray-voiced live-action/animation hybrids, and I assume they're going to start from scratch with the story and not try to continue it in CG form.

“I’ve been so impressed with the quality of animation and storytelling coming out of Hollywood of late,” said Jim Davis. “I can’t wait to get into production with the terrific team Alcon has assembled.”
Garfield originally appeared in 41 newspapers, but its success and immediate popularity made it one of the fastest growing comic strips of all time, ultimately appearing in 2,580 newspapers and journals, with an estimated readership of 260 million. Garfield currently holds the record for being the most widely syndicated comic strip in the world.

I can't imagine anyone being too worked up over this, especially since the other two hybrid movies already paved the way for people to get used to the idea of the character on the big screen. Is Garfield still a character that resonates with audiences today? Are you (or your kids) excited about seeing a CG Garfield movie?

GAME OF THRONES and FAMILY GUY Unite in Weird Mashup

I'd never had any reason to think about the similarities between Game of Thrones and Family Guy until now, but Stewie Griffin is actually a decent stand-in for Tyrion Lannister. They both have a seething hatred for a parent (though Tyrion's hatred is actually justified), and are quick with quips and one-liners. In this video from DavidUngerMusic, the editor places Stewie's head on Tyrion's body and the result is a weird blending of TV universes that somehow doesn't feel quite as dissonant as it should. (Beware of Game of Thrones spoilers for previous seasons.)
