Two New Action-Packed TV Spots For The BEN-HUR Remake

$

The 1959 version of Ben-Hur with Charlton Heston is a masterpiece. I love that movie, but it’s getting a remake for modern audiences and director Timur Bekmambetov is giving it a stylish Fast and Furious-style makeover. As much I adore the original film, this remake looks like it will provide some fun and enjoyable action-packed entertainment. There’s no way it will be as good as the '59 film, though, which took home 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Paramount Pictures and MGM have released two new TV spots for the film entitled “Legend” and “Combo” and they offer us a bit of new footage from the film.

BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption.

Like the previous films, this new one is based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. The movie also stars Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro and it’s set to be released on August 19th. I also included a set of character posters.

New Info on STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII, It will Start Right Where Episode VII Left Off

Director Rian Johnson recently wrapped production on Star Wars: Episode VIII and this weekend he showed up at Star Wars Celebration to talk a little bit about the movie and he revealed a few new details.

We really don’t know much about what is going to happen in Episode VIII aside from some rumors that have hit the internet, and we all know how rumors can go. They could turn out to be legit they could turn out to be false, we’ll just have to wait and see.

In the meantime, Johnson offered some solid intel on the film revealing that the story will pick up right where Star Wars: The Force Awakens left off. He says:

“This is going to start right where the last one left off. It was a break from tradition.”

We’ve never seen a Star Wars pick up right where they previous film left off before, so that’s a first and I like the fact they are doing that because I want to see what happens! That was quite the cliffhanger. He went on to say:

“The second film is where we zoom into the characters, getting to the heart of them and challenging them.”

I personally can’t wait to see Luke Skywalker utilized in a new epic adventure and see how his character has changed and evolved after all these years. That’s what I’m most excited about! He went on to talk about the shooting location where the film begins saying:

"Skellig Michael is an incredibly mystical place. To be there and have that be the first thing we were shooting was an appropriately surreal way to start everything off."

In preparation for to shoot the film, Johnson watched a few movies to help inspire him. Those film included the 1949 WWII drama Twelve O’Clock High, which he said “became extremely important”, the 1959 survival adventure Letter Never Sent, and other classic such as The Bridge On The River Kwai, The Dambusters, Sahara, and Gunga Din.

Johnson spent six weeks at Lucasfilm working on the story and what exactly they wanted to do with these characters. He explained that:

“We would watch dailies come in from VII. It was probably really healthy creating the story based on our reactions to the footage rather than the cultural reactions. It was a unique experience.”

Ryan was joined by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and John Boyega during the presentation and they just gushed about how talented of a director Rian is. Boyega said:

“Rian is awesome. He is doing an indie movie within a studio franchise. It is so much fun… Rian has a new energy for a new story.”

I can’t wait to see it! The movie comes out on December 15th, 2017.

Alden Ehrenreich Talks About His Experience Landing the Role of Han Solo

Writer and director's Phil Lord and Chris Miller took the stage at Star Wars Celebration to talk about their standalone Star Wars film that will focus on a younger version of Han Solo. In the process, Alden Ehrenreich was officially introduced to the fans as the actor who will be stepping into the boots of the characters.

The script for the film was written by Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon and the story will focus on a version of the character who is in his early 20s. The movie is said to start shooting in the U.K. early next year at the end of January or early February.  When talking about the character Lord said:

“I sort of relate to him. He doesn’t want to do anything he is told. He is very sarcastic and at the end of the day he is unreasonably optimistic. He is a grouchy, cynical guy with the biggest heart in the galaxy.”

Miller went on to say:

“He’s a maverick, a scoundrel. He is clever but he’s not smart. He wants to present himself as this tough guy but he is lovable. He is one of the most iconic characters of all time.”

Han Solo has always had a gritty charm about him that you can't help but love. It sounds like these guys are going to embrace that while making this movie. To find the right actor for the role Lucasfilm auditioned over 3000 actors! The directors joked that they even went to cowboy bars in search for the perfect guy to take on the role. Out of those 3000 people, Ehrenreich was the first one to audition. Miller said:

“We thought this was the hardest casting challenge of all time. They were the biggest boots to fill, but we cast the first person who walked through the door."

He looked over to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and joked, “Sorry Kathy — we wasted your money.” Kennedy amusingly fired back at him with, “I am going to take it out of your salary." Ehrenreich briefly talked about his experience in the whole process saying:

“I read the sides and I loved them. I auditioned for six months. The coolest part was I went on the Falcon for a chemistry test with Chewbacca. It was unbelievable. It was more exciting than nerve-racking.”

Yeah, I would have been excited as hell to dress up as Han Solo and do a screen test with freakin' Chewbacca! Who wouldn't!? This guy landed a hell of a great acting gig and I think he's going to be a great fit for the character.

Lord and Miller went on to joke that the first 20 minutes of every screen test they did with an actor involved that actor drooling over being inside the Millennium Falcon, which makes complete sense. It's just something that should be expected.

I can't wait to see how Ehrenreich does in the role of Solo and I'm extremely excited to see what Lord and Miller have planned for this new story in his life. There's a lot of great talent involved with the making of this Star Wars standalone film so I'm confident that it will turn out to be a great movie.

Hardcore HARRY POTTER Fan Transforms Dining Room into Hogwarts' Great Hall

You gotta love the passion of Harry Potter fans. There’s a family from Bayston Hill, Shropshire in England who dropped some serious cash to transform their dining room into the Great Hall from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The whole thing looks absolutely gorgeous. They wanted to make this room look as authentic as possible, and they succeeded. They show off the whole thing in the video below and I have to say that my favorite part of it is that suit of armor. To make it even cooler, they added some actual props from the film in there as well!

New STAR TREK BEYOND TV Spot Shows the Human Side of Idris Elba's Villain

Paramount Pictures has released a new TV spot for Star Trek Beyond, and it features some surprising new information about Idris Elba's villain Krall. It shows us that the alien character that Elba plays was actually once human. In a video transmission that you'll see in the spot, Krall says:

“The Federation do not care about us. They abandoned this planet long ago. You’ll probably never see me again. But if you do, be ready.”

Needless to say, he's pissed off and hellbent on revenge when the Enterprise and its crew shows up. When previously talking to EW about the history of his character he said:

“There’s some history that we explore, to understand why he feels the frontier needs to push back. There’s definitely an opposing argument to the good that the Federation think they do.
“There are purists that believe in independence, and believe that we’re all made differently for a reason, and will fight tooth and nail to defend that. There’s massive relatability to modern world politics in that sense.”

Star Trek Beyond is set to be released on July 22nd. In case you missed Ben's review of the film, you can check it out here

Taika Waititi Says THOR: RAGNAROK Will Be the "Most Different” and “Biggest” Marvel Movie

$

For all you Marvel fans who were hoping for a very different kind of Thor movie, you’re in luck! Not only will you get a different kind of Thor film, but you’ll be getting a different kind of Marvel film altogether. In fact, director Taika Waititi says it will be the “most different Marvel movie.” During an interview with Polygon, Waititi explains that the plot of the story they set out to tell has changed since they started shooting:

"It's hard to say what the movie is because it's changing. The plot has changed and the script has changed. There are buddy elements to it between Thor and the Hulk, but who knows what the final movie will look like."

I’m curious to know why exactly things have changed since they first started shooting, but I guess that means there's a chance that a lot of the rumors we’ve previously heard could no longer be a part of the film, if they were even true to begin with. The director goes on to say:

"This movie really celebrates that group of misfits who are on the run. There was something exciting about it and I wanted my movie to be exciting and fun. Watching everyone run amok on screen and enjoying themselves is what I wanted to make going into it."

With Waititi at the helm, there’s no doubt it will be a sort of organized madness. Marvel has allowed the director the creative freedom to do what he wants, and it sounds like he’s going to take advantage of that. He explains:

"I feel like a guest in Marvel's universe but with the creative freedom to do what I want. I think this is the most different Marvel movie to date and one of the biggest."

One of the biggest differences I see from the get go is that Thor and The Hulk will be teaming up on a kind of cosmic road trip to save Asgard. There’ have been a lot of rumors about the film, and the one big rumor that I hope is true includes some story elements from Planet Hulk

The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, and more. As a fan of Waititi, I’m expecting great things which I’m confident he will deliver.

Thor: Ragnarok touches down on November 3rd, 2017.

There’s an Awesome Fan-Made Episode of HE-MAN Coming, Here’s the Trailer!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is one of the greatest cartoons to come out of the '80s, and thanks to a fan-made project, we will get to watch the first new episode since 1985! The episode is called "The Curse of the Three Terrors," it was created by Super7, and they have released a trailer for it that perfectly captures the nostalgic greatness of the original series.

They wanted to make this thing look as authentic as possible, and judging from what I’m seeing here, they awesomely pulled it off. Hell, we event get to see Skeletor throw lots of great insults at his minions. There aren’t a lot of details on the project other than this trailer, but the following note accompanied it:

Super7 is proud to present the following PREVIEW for the first new He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animation since 1985! Please come (and bring your friends) to the public screening of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Curse of the Three Terrors"!

According to Gizmodo, the screening will be an undisclosed location at the corner of 8th Ave & G in downtown San Diego, at 10:00 PM on Wednesday night during Comic-Con this week.

STAR TREK 4 Will Bring Together Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth

$

The first Star Trek film directed by J.J. Abrams began with an emotional scene of Chris Hemsworth as Kirk’s dad sacrificing himself to save his crew and his family. Kirk grew up under the shadow of his father and his legacy, which is something we’ll see him struggling to free himself from in Star Trek Beyond. Now it looks like there’s a good chance that Kirk could meet his dad in Star Trek 4.

While talking to Collider at the Star Trek Beyond press conference, producer J.J. Abrams said that they are already thinking about idea for Star Trek 4. He told them:

“Yes, and there’s something that hopefully we’re figuratively minutes away from talking about. The answer is 100% yes, and it’s incredibly exciting.”

That was followed by a tweet from reporter Scott Mantz, who excitedly revealed that Abrams confirmed to him that the fourth Star Trek would bring together Pine and Hemsworth. You can read that tweet here:

It would be pretty awesome to see these two characters finally meet and interact with each other. If this actually ends up happening, there’s no doubt that it will be quite an emotional event for both the characters.

Since this is the Star Trek universe and there are now alternate timelines being played with in the franchise, it’s not hard to think that Abrams and his team could find a way to bring these two characters together.

Of course, this is all very early talk regarding aspects of a film that doesn't even have a script yet, so it's subject to change as they work on developing the next chapter in the Star Trek saga.

Guns Are Blazing in the New Trailer for THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

Sony Pictures has released a couple new trailers for their upcoming remake of the 1960 western The Magnificent Seven. When I first heard that this remake was happening I wasn't too thrilled, but the trailers that have been released for it make the film look incredibly fun. On top of that, there's a great cast of actors leading the charge and a talented crew telling the story, which as many of you already know was inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai.

The Magnificent Seven script was written by True Detective scribe Nic Pizzolatto and The Equalizer‘s Richard Wenk. That script was brought to life by Training Day director Antoine Fuqua. I just hope the movie ends up being as awesome as these trailers make it look.

With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.

The movie also stars Haley Bennett, Matt Bomer, Billy Slaughter, and Vinnie Jones. The Magnificent Seven is set to be released in theaters on September 23rd. Below you'll find the domestic trailer and the international trailer. Enjoy!

Cool SUICIDE SQUAD Promos Offer a Fun, Colorful Look at the Villanous Characters

A series of new promo spots were released for the villainous Suicide Squad team, and they are done in the same style of those colorful character posters that were previously released. I’ve really enjoyed the marketing for this film as it makes it look like the movie is going to be an absolute blast! The character introductions in these videos are incredibly fun, and the one for Enchantress even gives us a different look for the character. She is the character that Task Force X is brought together to go after, and in the process they learn there’s a bigger villain they are up against called The Adversary, which you can read more about here.

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, with Raymond Olubawale as King Shark, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Adam Beach as Slipknot.

The movie comes out on August 5th!

New Details on Nebula in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2: She's a "Teen-y, Hateful Shit"

$

Nebula was one of my favorite characters in Guardians of the Galaxy, and it's great to know that she will be back for Vol. 2. There was a recent piece of concept art released for the film in which we see her seemingly as part of the team. Thanks to Zoe Saldana, we learned a few new details about Nebula and her own character Gamora. In an interview with IGN she said:

"You’ll begin to get a glimpse of how terrible life must have been like to grow up with a crazy stepfather through Nebula. Nebula is still in that teen-y, fucking hateful shit. She’s just resentful and bitter."

As you know, Thanos is the stepfather that Saldana is talking about there. Sounds like Nebula still has a lot of growing up to do. Saldana's description of her being a "teen-y, fucking hateful shit" is hilarious. She went on to talk about her own character, Gamora, and how she is looking to earn redemption:

"Gamora, everything she does is trying to gain redemption for what she’d done before. That’s where you’re going to find her and then, obviously, their relationship is very volatile."

She then teased the relationship between Nebula and Gamora:

"We’re starting somewhere very crazy but appropriate given where we had ended things off in the first installment. So Thanos is definitely spoken about – not highly.”

She didn’t confirm if Nebula will end up joining the Guardians team, but it’s not hard to imagine that it could happen. It sounds like the two characters might be venting to each other about their dad. So maybe they will bond over their hatred of Thanos. No matter what happens, it seems like these two characters are always going to have issues with each other, even if they do end up on the same team at some point.

Tom Hiddleston Talks THOR: RAGNAROK and Teases Fight Scene

$

I know the standalone Thor films are considered the bottom of the barrel of Marvel's oeuvre, but I’ve freakin’ enjoyed them! The Thor films have been great fun, and director Taika Waititi is about to take Thor to a whole new level of awesomeness with Thor: Ragnarok, in which we will see the God of Thunder team up with the Hulk to take on Hela. Of course, there’s going to be a lot more to the story than that, and you can read some of the information and rumors regarding what we might see in the film here.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tom Hiddleston talked about his time on the set of the film so far and teased a fight scene with Thor saying:

“It is actually a fight day tomorrow. I don’t think I’m fighting specifically him, however. Spoiler alert! But that’s all I will tell you. I’ve been here for 10 days. We’re really just at the beginning. I think they officially started filming just last week. It’s great. I’m having such a good time. Taika Waititi is brilliant, and his vision for his Thor film is so full of wit and humor and drama. He’s really been so attentive over the screenplay. I’m so excited. It’s a hell of a cast. It’s got quite a lineup.”

If Loki isn’t fighting Thor, who could he be fighting? Perhaps the Hulk? I just assume Thor and the Hulk will fight each other before they team up. In fact, that’s one of the rumors that we’ve heard, and that fight apparently ties in with elements from Planet Hulk. Hiddleston goes on to say that as of right now, the main actors on the set include himself, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Tessa Thompson. So I guess there’s a chance Thor could be fighting Thompson’s Valkyrie.

“There are some heavy hitters in the lineup, and not everyone is here yet. It’s Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, and myself. We’ve got some others coming. Thus far, it’s really fun. And also, it’s been three years since I’ve played. I think I last wore the costume at Comic-Con in 2013. It was 2012 when we wrapped The Dark World. It’s just been a long time, and to don the black hair and leather and all of Loki’s stuff is good fun.”

This could be the last Marvel film where we see Hiddleston in the role of Loki. I hope not, but that’s what the actor previously led us to believe. Thor: Ragnarok is set to open in theaters on November 3rd, 2017. Hopefully we get some more information on the film during the Marvel panel at Comic-Con next week!

"Memory's so treacherous..."

During Star Wars Celebration last weekend, Mark Hamill took the opportunity to plug his upcoming animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke. During his panel at the event the actor performed some dialogue from the film live as The Joker, and it's freakin' awesome! Hamill will always be my favorite version of The Joker. He just always manages to bring that character to life through his voice perfectly, and it's always fun to see him break out and do it live for his fans! STAR TREK 4 Officially Announced and Chris Hemsworth Confirmed to Return as George Kirk

Paramount Pictures, Skydance, and Bad Robot have officially announced today that they will be developing a fourth Star Trek film ,and they even confirmed a recent report that Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Kirk's father, George Kirk, in the story! The press release states:

In the next installment of the epic space adventure, Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father.

There are no other plot details other than that, but the majority of the original cast from the previous three films are expected to return.

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have been hired to write the screenplay, and J.J. Abrams serve as a producer on the project. There's still no word on who will be brought on to direct, or how they will handle the character Chekov as they will be moving forward without Anton Yelchin, who tragically passed away.

I do think it's a great concept to bring both Captain Kirk's together, and I'm curious to see how exactly that will happen and what kind of story they will tell with that plot device. What do you all think about bringing George and James together for an adventure in Star Trek 4?

Why BATMAN V SUPERMAN Backlash Will Benefit The DCEU Moving Forward

$

0

Around three years ago, Zack Snyder swept the rug from under our collective feet and announced that he would be tackling Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We rejoiced, we cried, we hated...but regardless of what camp you belong to in our world of infinite opinions, there was one simple fact no one could ignore: this was going to be an event.

Fast forward to present day: BVS has come and gone. To many, it was a disappointment. To some, a joy. Regardless of what you think, Snyder has made his decisions and we're stuck with them...but I'm not convinced this is a bad thing moving forward. He's already stated in an interview with Vulture:

"When Batman V Superman came out, I was like, 'Wow, okay, oof. It did catch me off guard. I have had to, in my mind, make an adjustment. I do think that the tone of Justice League has changed because of what the fans have said."

So you've spoken, and you have been heard! Let's take a look why some of the more widely criticized aspects in BVS will result in better quality movies as we move forward into the DCEU, because it's happening whether we like it or not. I'll throw a spoiler warning out there, just in case a some of you were in space a few months ago, or something. SPOILERS FOR BATMAN V SUPERMAN LIE AHEAD!

MINOR SPOILERS FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE!

One of the most widely criticized aspects of BVS was its dark and somber tone. Seldom breaking for moments of light-heartedness, BVS resembles Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy but fails to achieve similar quality. Moving forward, I can understand why some might have a sour taste in their mouths. Since The Dark Knight's success, we've been given grounded adaptations of heroes resulting in more grounded stories...but that era seems to be coming to an end.

Justice League promises to build upon the foundation BVS laid in many ways, starting with tone and continuing with scope. Snyder has not only promised a lighter and more adventurous tone; he showcased it from the set of Justice League in London a few weeks ago when a gaggle of journalists were invited to the set (not me). Shifts toward a more comic-book accurate world were evident, and that plays well to Snyder's grandiose flair for visuals and scope. Some of you may have heard about certain scenes involving a fun and humorous conversation between Bruce Wayne and Barry Allen, or another with Commissioner Gordon and a few members of the Justice League on a rooftop in Gotham; there were also reveals of a massive Wayne-Tech airship to transport the Justice League, a crazy Batmobile-walker, and a happier, less-murderous Batman!

One key figure missing was Henry Cavill's Superman, who has spent the better part of two films being a sad and confused mess. This characterization of Superman has been criticized a lot, and for good reason. His character hasn't organically grown or evolved since his inception in Man of Steel, and we needed about 90% of BVS' runtime to finally move him along. I understand the goal was to humanize Superman, but it's left us with an utterly joyless version of such a beloved character. Having said that, the DCEU would be moving forward regardless of our opinions, and that freedom allowed Snyder to kill off Superman in BVS without severe repercussion. We all know Superman will return (mullet or not), but this is clever because it allows them to reset his character in a positive and lighter way. Superman has now sacrificed himself for the world! Now he can quit sulking around and become the beacon of hope and leader he is hopefully meant to be. I'm wondering how they'll explain Clark Kent's resurrection though...

Speaking of missteps in characterization, Ben Affleck's Batman was (although admittedly one of the best parts of the film) a driving force of chaos and death, but hey! Just mention Martha and maybe you'll have a new best bud, you know, with a cape and everything. Bruce Wayne's savagery and disregard for life in BVS was off-putting at first; it went against everything Batman stands for! However, this allows an older and seasoned Bruce Wayne/Batman an interesting potential arc moving forward: digging within to find his ideals of old, trying to find himself again after years and years of emotional and physical battery. It gives us reason to get behind Batman and his crusade again while creating a fresh take that we haven't seen on film before. As you may know, Warner Bros has officially announced a solo film. Pair that with an Affleck/Geoff Johns script, Affleck in the director's chair, sprinkled with Jeremy Irons' delightfully grumpy Alfred, and it's a solid recipe for (potential) success.

Some didn't buy Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Lex Luthor, aka Alexander Luthor, Jr. He was unhinged and wildly disturbed, more akin to Heath Ledger's Joker than anything else. He lacked that "supervillain" quality, didn't he? Never really in control. The choice to name him Luthor, Jr. is an interesting one, leaving a large opening for Daddy Lex to possibly come back into the fold. Maybe for a Man of Steel sequel, eh? Regardless of the speculation, Lex Luthor is out of the way for now, giving way to Steppenwolf in Justice League, which is probably a good thing. Primarily, Lex Luthor and General Zod have been Superman's main antagonists since the Richard Donner era. It was cool seeing Superman fight Doomsday, but that's done now, Zod is dead, and Lex is taking a back seat. Opening up the field for some well-known villains such as Brainiac or Metallo is a fresh and exciting premise for the future.

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman was one of the only universally praised aspects of BVS but was underutilized and left us all wanting more. Thankfully, her solo film is less than one year away; it'll be a breath of fresh air in a film landscape dominated by male heroes. Snyder has gone on record stating that she is the 'best fighter' in the DCEU, and I'm quite certain we're all excited to finally see her kick some ass for more than 15 minutes. According to the official synopsis released a few days ago, we'll see Wonder Woman leaving her sheltered island life in order to fight along side humanity in World War I.

The Justice League reveal email could've been handled better, but it gave us cool glimpses of Aquaman breaking James Cameron's submarine camera and The Flash's crazy convenience store lightning storm. The most interesting tease might have been Cyborg, whose little email file showed us our first glimpse at the transforming black cubes known as Motherboxes, which will tie into the Justice League storyline.

Batman v Superman deserved some praise, and it also deserved some hate. As we look forward at the upcoming slate of DCEU films, there's plenty of reason to be excited for the future of the franchise. Suicide Squad is right around the corner and if the hype is to be believed, David Ayer's villain-led ensemble piece could prove to be the spark to ignite interest in the universe again. Wonder Woman isn't too far away, and Justice League should be a film that all fans can rally behind, leaving us all drooling for more.

GAME OF THRONES Season 7 Delay Confirmed, Will Premiere in Summer 2017

If you're already going through Game of Thrones withdrawals, we have some slightly disappointing news. A week or so ago, I wrote about how the upcoming seventh season of the HBO fantasy series might be delayed due to weather, and now the network has confirmed that decision. President of programming Casey Bloys said the following in a statement:

“Now that winter has arrived on ‘Game of Thrones,’ executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing. Instead of the show’s traditional spring debut, we’re moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule.”

It makes sense for the story, but it's a bummer that fans will have to wait longer than usual between seasons. We don't have an official premiere date yet, so we'll keep you posted when one becomes available. In the meantime, drown your sorrows about the delay in some meat and mead.

TVinsider has debuted the first poster for Luke Cage, the latest collaboration between Marvel and Netflix that's set to hit the streaming service in just a couple of months. This poster, designed by Marvel Entertainment chief creative officer Joe Quesada, will be available at the Marvel booth at this week's San Diego Comic-Con for fans who'd like to score one for themselves.

“There’s always great pressure with superhero posters,” Quesada says. “You’ve got one shot to encapsulate a character with a pose that’s provocative and that you hope will someday be iconic. Mike [Colter] gives Luke a smoldering strength. He’s sexy and calming. And the ladies love it.”

I like the exaggerated, muscular look of the character. It's not quite as insane as Genndy Tartakovsky's upcoming comic, but it's still heavily stylized and has a cool look to it. What do you all think?

The first season of Luke Cage will be available to stream on Netflix starting September 30, 2016.
