We are on the eve of what is surely the most eagerly anticipated summer film of 2012. Are you ready?! To help get you pumped up, here's a little collection of well made fan posters for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. There's been droves of fan made fare, but I'd actually hang these on my walls.

It makes me sad that this is the conclusion to Nolan's Dark Knight saga. I hope they don't reboot this franchise anytime soon. We know we'll get a new Batman for Justice League though. Who would you like to see take on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Justice League film?

First Look at Liev Schreiber in LAST DAYS ON MARS

Irish filmmaker Ruairi Robinson was attached to direct the live-action adaptation of Akira for Warner Bros. at one point. Things didn't work out with that, and he ended up directing this sci-fi film for Universal Pictures called Last Days on Mars. Today, thanks to HeyUGuys , we bring you your first look at Liev Schreiber in the lead role. The movie also stars Olivia Williams, Elias Koteas, Romola Garai, and Johnny Harris.

The story follows a "group of astronaut explorers succumb one by one to a mysterious and terrifying force while collecting specimens on Mars." I haven't heard much about this film, but I'm intrigued, and I'm looking forward to seeing more!

THE CAMPAIGN - New Trailer and 4 New TV Spots

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis' new political comedy The Campaign looks hilarious! I loved what I saw at the Comic-Con panel, and I think audiences are going to have a blast watching it. Warner Bros. has released a new trailer and four new TV spots for the film showing us some new footage.

In the film, Ferrell plays an incumbent congressman named Cam Brady who makes a major public goof that forces a bunch of wealthy CEOs to put up a rival for his seat in Congress in the form of Galifianakis' Marty Huggins, the director of the local Tourism Center.

The movie is set to open up in theaters on August 10th. Check out the new trailer and spots and let us know if you're looking forward to this comedy!

Jack Ryan Director Kenneth Branagh Also Up for Villain Role

Not only is Kenneth Branagh (Thor) directing Paramount Pictures Jack Ryan reboot, but now he's in negotiations with the studio to play the villain as well! It looks like he'll be starring alongside Chris Pine in the action thriller.

In this latest film, Ryan "is an ex-Marine who works as a successful financial analyst in Moscow. He discovers a plot by his employer to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy, and must race against time to save America and his wife." According to Variety, Branagh will play the Russian villain, "who with the help of the local government, masterminds a plot to destroy America's economy by making the dollar worthless."

Branagh is both a great director and actor, so I think he'll end up being great in the film. The only movie I haven't liked in the whole Jack Ryan movie series was The Sum of All Fears. Ben Affleck was terrible in that movie. Other than that it's been a solid franchise, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of his adventures brought to the big screen. What do you think about Branagh taking on the role of the villain in the film?

On his quest, Ralph meets tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty, and feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, who may just be his first real friend. But everything changes when a deadly enemy is unleashed, threatening the entire arcade and Vanellope herself. Ralph finally gets his chance to save the day—but can he do it in time? “Wreck-It Ralph” crashes onto the big screen on November 2, 2012, in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

Steven Spielberg Wants Chris Hemsworth for ROBOPOCALYPSE

Director Steven Spielberg is looking to cast Thor star Chris Hemsworth in his upcoming sci-fi epic Robopocalypse. The director met with the actor and decided that he's the man for the job! Deadline says that there's no official offer yet, but you can bet it's coming. Hemsworth is blowing up Hollywood right now, and you can thank Thor for that. He's just going to get bigger and bigger, it's not going to hurt that he's working with Spielberg either. Not only is he a big good looking guy, but he can act too.

Robopocalypse is an adaptation of a novel written by Daniel H. Wilson, and the screenplay was written by Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, Cloverfield). There's an incredible team of talent behind this movie so far, and Hemsworth will make a great addition.

This sounds like it's going to be an incredibely epic film, and I'm extremely excited to see what Spielberg does with it. Here's what he had to say about it in a previous interview,

It’s a movie about a global war between man and machine. I had a great time creating the future on ‘Minority Report,’ and it’s a future that is coming true faster than any of us thought it would. ‘Robopocalypse’ takes place in 15 or 20 years, so it’ll be another future we can relate to. It’s about the consequences of creating technologies which make our lives easier, and what happens when that technology becomes smarter than we are. It’s not the newest theme, it’s been done throughout science fiction, but it’s a theme that becomes more relevant every year.”

Here's a detailed desciption of the story from the book:

In the near future, at a moment no one will notice, all the dazzling technology that runs our world will unite and turn against us. Taking on the persona of a shy human boy, a childlike but massively powerful artificial intelligence known as Archos comes online and assumes control over the global network of machines that regulate everything from transportation to utilities, defense and communication. In the months leading up to this, sporadic glitches are noticed by a handful of unconnected humans – a single mother disconcerted by her daughter’s menacing “smart” toys, a lonely Japanese bachelor who is victimized by his domestic robot companion, an isolated U.S. soldier who witnesses a ‘pacification unit’ go haywire – but most are unaware of the growing rebellion until it is too late.

When the Robot War ignites -- at a moment known later as Zero Hour -- humankind will be both decimated and, possibly, for the first time in history, united. Robopocalypse is a brilliantly conceived action-filled epic, a terrifying story with heart-stopping implications for the real technology all around us…and an entertaining and engaging thriller unlike anything else written in years.

What do you think of Hemsorth working with Spielberg on this film?

The Most Complex LEGO Sculpture Ever Built!

I've seen some pretty insane LEGO creations, and I have yet to set foot in LEGO Land. So anything I see made of LEGO bricks doesn't surprise me all that much. But this 677 pound, 152,455 piece, 1:2 scale replica of a Rolls Royce Trent-1000 engine is the first of its kind in the world! Or, so they say, but who in their right mind has the time, know how, or money to build something like this and not tell anyone??? Prince?! Where's he been lately?

It doesn't just look the part, it works! Ok, so it doesn't actually take in fuel or have the ability to power anything, but it does move. The builders actually went through the CAD plans of the engine (which is used to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner), and have arranged the 160 separate engine components just like the original.

This took 4 people 8-weeks to complete. The video below the photos shows them in action. It's really mind blowing!

Artist Andrew Kolb has created this great piece of X-Men Geek art for Planet Pulps  X-Tra Epic X-Men Show. The piece is called The Final Clash, and it shows the X-Men heroes and villains standing head to head and ready for battle. I like this because it has a fun and different style, and I also like that the artist went with the classic costume designs.

Marvel's Guillermo del Toro HULK Series Is Still On

We haven't heard much about the Hulk TV series that Guillermo del Toro is developing for Marvel and ABC, since we heard the network hoped it would be premiering sometime next year. Del Toro recently sat down with MTV at Comic-Con to give an update on where the production currently stands,

I have had a couple of minutes with Marvel since 'Avengers,' and they have the screenplay. We're waiting for a particular writer to do a rewrite on the pilot. That's where we are right now. But we're still on.

He then goes on to share his thoughts on Joss Whedon's The Avengers saying,

I think 'Avengers' is beautiful because you give a movie like that -- that size, that scope -- to a guy that has the tone and the pulse of those things dead on, and that's beauty or curse, you know?

I don't know, but I'll take it as a compliment. It's great to hear everything is falling in line and that things are moving forward. This series is going to be a huge hit, and I can't wait to see what Del Toro has planned! I know Mark Ruffalo won't be playing Bruce Banner in the series, but I hope the series carrying over the same tone and dynamic.

Dear Aurora Colorado, Rise.

Citizens of Aurora, Colorado,

The shock of the nation can not possibly overshadow the sadness felt by your community on this morning. Twice your fair state has made news for shootings that have stood us all on our head. That feeling where the illusion that you are truly safe when traveling about your daily lives is shattered, and we are reminded how fragile our lives really are. The identities of the antagonists are well known and widely disseminated, but the motive and intentions forever locked away in the mind of the individual.

I'm reminded of the line delivered by Michael Caine in The Dark Knight, "Some men just like to watch the world burn." The credits roll and the movie ends, and we are left with the solace that there will always be a Batman for when we are in crisis. The reality is, caped crusaders are too far and few between for the amount of dark and twisted individuals that walk our Earth.

12 individuals can affect the lives of more people than we realize, and the injuries of the other 50 will take more than time to heal, but know that this time of trial shall pass. I have but one request for the nation in this communities time of sadness, that we rise and be heroes for them in this time. Sympathies, condolences, anything that will help. Take a note from a long held stance in the  franchise that anyone can be a Batman in some form or another. Together, we can stand against the very real evil that exists outside of the silver screen in society.

My final words, Aurora, come from the film itself but at the risk of spoilers are adapted from the words of Winston Churchill who said, "When you find yourself in Hell, keep going." Godspeed Aurora, and we will be with you as you "rise."

Sincerely,

Robot Reagan and the Geektyrant crew

Christopher Eccleston Cast as Villain in THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston will be taking on the role of the villain in Marvel's Thor: The Dark World! He will be playing Malekith The Accursed, which is who we assumed the villain would be once we found out that the Dark Elves were involved. Malekith is the leader of the elves, and in the comics Loki and Malekith end up forming an alliance to to secure the Casket of Ancient Winters.

This isn't the first time Eccleston has played a bad guy, you might recall him taking on the role of the badass baddie in Nicholas Cage's Gone in 60 Seconds and Destro in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. He makes a great villain, and I can see him doing a great job as Malekith! I'm looking forward to see his performance in the highly anticipated Thor sequel. The studio did a great job casting this part!

What do you think about Eccleston taking on the role of Malekith in the film?

Here are a few more details on the character:

Malekith the Accursed is a supervillain in the Marvel Universe. He is ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, and has come into conflict with Thor. He once wielded the Casket of Ancient Winters.

Malekith has all the normal attributes of a member of the race of dark elves, although his abilities are as a result of above average development. He possesses a gifted intellect, and superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes.

As a dark elf, Malekith also has the ability to manipulate the forces of magic for a variety of effects, including teleportation, energy projection, physical malleability, flight (by transforming into mist) illusion casting, and the ability to change the shape and appearance of other beings or objects.

Malekith has a vulnerability to iron, which disrupts or cancels his magical spells.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY Season 2 Title Revealed

For those of you who are looking forward to the next season of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story, you'll be happy to know that the title of the new chapter has been revealed! The second chapter of the series will be called American Horror Story: Asylum. It's not really surprising, after all, the next season takes place in an asylum.

Here's a press release in which Murphy talks about the series in a little more detail what they are doing with it...

Set in 1964, American Horror Story: Asylum stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, James Cromwell, and Joseph Fiennes. Principal photography on the new minseries began on July 17 and it premieres on FX in October.

"When we launched the show last year, we kept quiet about the closed-ended nature of the show because we didn't want to tip off the audience that the characters were not going to survive," explained co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy. "Now that it has been established that each year is a closed-ended story, the time seemed right to reveal what we're calling the new installment.

"We picked 'Asylum' because it not only describes the setting - an insane asylum run by Jessica Lange's character which was formerly a tuberculosis ward - but also signifies a place of haven for the unloved and the unwanted. This year's theme is about sanity and tackling real life horrors."

I can't wait to see how this turns out! I love the twistedness of it all. Murphy also tweeted out the following the set. Not sure what Bloody Face means, but we'll find out soon enough!

Check out this great first trailer for Andrew Dominik's (ChopperThe Assassination of Jesse James) awesome looking mob film, Killing Them Softly. The story follows a mob enforcer, played by Brad Pitt, trying to track down three dumbass thieves who ripped off a high stakes card game. The movie also stars Ray Liotta as the hustler running the poker game, Richard Jenkins plays a lawyer with inside information, James Gandolfini is a washed up alcoholic hit man, and Vincent Curatola plays a middle-aged prison release seeking revenge. Sam Rockwell also has a role in the film.

I've enjoyed the previous films that Dominik has made, and his latest creation looks pretty damn entertaining! I really enjoy the way he tells his stories. It looks like it has the making of a classic mob movie.

Here is the short synopsis:

Three dumb guys who think they’re smart rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse. Brad Pitt plays the enforcer hired to track them down and restore order.

Watch the trailer and let us know what one of your favorite mob movies is, and how you think this film will stack up to it! The movie will be released on September 21st.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Movie Title Confirmed

$

0

Producer Bryan Singer has confirmed that the X-Men: First Class sequel will be called X-Men: Days of Future Past. We've already reported this as being the title a couple times already, but it's the first time someone involved with the film has confirmed it. Here's what he told IGN in a recent interview,

I can say it’s being written right now and it will start shooting in a few months. It’s going to be very ambitious. It’s called Days of Future Past and it deals with aspects of that comic but also some very new things. I just don’t want to give any of it away. Matthew Vaughn will be directing and I’m totally excited about it.

You know what's even more exciting? Well, I'll let Singer tell you...

I think there’s a strong desire to broaden out the universe. The X-Men universe on its own is every bit as big as the Marvel universe and I think it’s time to reach out and explore it and perhaps even bring some connectivity between the films, as Marvel’s done so well. You may see some of that, I don’t know. [Laughs]

Hell yeah! It's about time they tried this! Why the hell not bring the world of the two X-Men franchises together!? Days of Future Past is the perfect storyline to try it out with as well. When I heard they might be working with this story, I hoped they would try to connect the films together. For those of you who need a refresher course...

The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future.

The movie is currently being written by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: First Class) with Vaughn and his longtime collaborator, Jane Goldman. The movie is scheduled to be released on July 18th, 2014.

I'm really excited to see how they end up bringing this story to the big screen, and seeing how the two X-Men movie worlds collide with each other. Are you excited about what they are planning for this sequel?

So Now BILL MURRAY Is Definitely NOT Doing GHOSTBUSTERS 3

Bill Murray... we all know his long Ghostbusters 3 history, but he recently made us believe that there was hope he would return to the franchise for a third time to reprise his role as Peter Venkman. Today Dan Aykroyd has made it very clear that Murray is not going to be in the film, but that they will move forward without him. Here's what he had to say in a recent interview with Metro,

Is Ghostbusters 3 finally happening?

Yes, we've got a brilliant new writer on it and we'll be passing the torch on to a new generation. We're working on it to make it just right to satisfy our fans. I'm confident we'll be in production in the next year.

It's been a long process, hasn't it?

Yes, but now we've got the studio on side. We've tried a few concepts which weren't right but now we've got a good structure and will make it happen.

Is Bill Murray doing it?

No, I can tell you he won't be involved.

How do you feel about that?

It's sad but we're passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one.

The new writter that he's talking about is the recently announced Tropic Thunder and Men in Black 3 writer Etan Cohen. Personally, I don't think the movie should be made without Murray: if he's not in it, then don't do it. He's the best character in the franchise. Hell! He is the franchise.

Aykroyd previously gave this little bit of information on the film.

My character’s eyesight is shot, I got a bad knee, a bad hip—I can’t drive that caddy anymore or lift that Psychotron Accelerator anymore, it’s too heavy. We need young legs, new minds—new Ghostbusters; so I’m in essence passing the torch to the new regime, and you know what? That’s totally okay with me.

What do you think of Murray being officially out of Ghostbusters 3?

First Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger in THE LAST STAND

I'm looking forward to seeing Arnold Schwarzengger back on the big screen shooting big ass guns and kicking ass! This is our first look at the actor in Kim Jee-Woon's (The Good the Bad the Weird, I Saw the Devil) The Last Stand. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says, "It's awesome to see him back in action."

Schwarzenegger stars as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.

According to Schwarzenegger, the sheriff "hasn't had to flex his muscles in a while. So when the gangsters come to town, it's a big test." Di Bonaventura goes on to talk about his age and how it relates to the character in the movie,

When he leaps and tackles someone, it's not simple to get back up. You see a new side of him. You're rooting for him more because he's more like us. And he gets up and keeps on going. When he needs to be Arnold, he's Arnold. He doesn't feel indestructible.

The film also stars Luis GuzmanJohnny KnoxvilleJaimie Alexander, Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker, Rodrigo Santoro, Eduardo Noriega, Peter Stormare, Harry Dean Stanton, and Genesis Rodriguez

The movie hits theaters on January 18th 2013, and I'm excited about seeing how it turns out! What do you think of Schwarzenegger's look?
