James Bond SKYFALL - 3 New Photos Released

0
0

It seems like we've hardly seen anything for Sam Mendes' 23rd James Bond movie Skyfall, but the closer we get to the release date, the more marketing material we'll start seeing. Before you know it we'll have 4 full trailers, 17 TV spots, 12 posters, and hundreds of images. There's actually a new domestic IMAX trailer that will be released soon. The images released today feature Daniel Craig and Ola Rapace, riding motorcycles.

Daniel Craig is back as James Bond 007 in Skyfall, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time. In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

The movie also stars Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Helen McCrory, Ben Whishaw, Berenice Marhole, and Naomie Harris. I've missed Bond, so it's going to be great to see him back up on the big screen kicking ass! It's set to hit theaters on November 9th!

DREDD - 15 New High Resolution Images

Here's a series of high resolution photo's from Pete Travis' Dredd 3D. I got to see this movie at Comic-Con, and I thought it was pretty badass! It was an epically violent and fun movie that most of you will enjoy. The more I've thought about the movie after I saw it, the more I liked it for what it was, and Karl Urban was awesome as Judge Dredd. One thing is for sure: it's a hell of a lot better than that Sylvester Stallone 90s version.

The movie hits theaters on September 21st. You can watch our video review for the film from Comic-Con here.

Here's the new Plot Synopsis:

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Takashi Miike's LESSON OF THE EVIL Teaser Trailer

After making Ninja Kids, Takashi Miike has gone back to telling the twisted tales of the human race. For those of you not familiar with the name, Miike has directed films such as 13 Assassins, Audition, Ichi the Killer, and a ton of other movies. His latest film, Lesson of the Evil, is an adaptation of Yusuke Kishi's novel of the same name. One thing is guaranteed... there will be lots of teenage blood spilled in this movie.

Actor Hideaki Ito plays a "High school teacher named Seiji Hasumi who is the most popular teacher at his school with an attractive smile. Yet, Hasumi is a psychopath. To solve some of his school's problems, like bullying, and to protect himself, Seiji begins to kill his students one by one." Ito had this to say in a previous statement about the character he plays,

When I read the original novel, I was terrified by the absolute wickedness that Hasumi gives out, as it gave me goosebumps.  I am a little worried that my personality might be swallowed by Hasumi while acting as him, but at the same time, I feel lucky as an actor to be able to challenge this intense ‘evil’.  With director Miike, I will aim to be the most evil and the worst protagonist in movie history.

Whoa! That's some goal he's got there, I hope he succeeds! This is a teaser trailer that takes you to the point of madness and then ends. Check it out and let us know if this is something you'd want to see!

DREW: THE MAN BEHIND THE POSTER - New Trailer

0
0

A couple of months ago we reported that the Drew Struzan documentary, Drew: The Man Behind The Poster, needed some funds to help finish post production. Thanks to your efforts, director Erik P. Sharkey has finished the film, and even held a panel this past weekend at Comic-Con. Now we have a brand new trailer for the doc that is finally on its way to release.

If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, or own any blu-ray or DVD worth owning, you know Struzan's work. His ability to make a new movie feel instantly nostalgic is what made him the go-to-guy for Hollywood. Too bad we're living in an age quickly being taken over by bad photoshop.

In this new trailer, we get even more insight into the techniques Struzan uses to bring those qualities to the canvas, and his impact on cinema. The doc includes interviews with George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Michael J. Fox, Guillermo Del Toro, Steven Spielberg and many more. In case you missed it before, below the new trailer is a clip with Michael J. Fox.

Synopsis:

The journey spans Drew's early career in commercial and album cover art through his recent retirement as one of the most recognizable and influential movie poster artists of all time. Three filmmakers have united to bring this film to life; Greg Boas of Hefty, inc., Charles Ricciardi of Torino Pictures and Erik P. Sharkey of Sharkey Productions, assembling one of the most intriguing film lineups and crafting a comprehensive presentation about the artist, the art, the stories behind Drew’s most recognizable creations, as well as a never-before-seen insider’s examination of the industry and the profession of motion picture advertising.

"Oh boy, you are in for a show tonight son!"

The Dark Knight Rises will be unleashed on the world tomorrow, July 20th! And in celebration of the release of Nolan's final film, here's a trailer that's been cut using clips from the entire trilogy. The trailer is extremely well made, and it gets the geek juices flowing in the blood. This one is diffrent than the last trilogy trailer we poster. If you're going to a midnight show tonight or plan on seeing the film this weekend, have a freakin' fantastic time! I still haven't seen it myself, so I will be making an effort to find a show that isn't sold out this weekend!

Teaser Poster for Paul Thomas Anderson's THE MASTER

The Weinstein Company has released the first teaser poster for Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master. Anderson is a fantastic filmmaker who knows how to tell awesomely unique stories. He also manages to get incredible performances out of his actors. I'm looking forward to seeing his latest film, it looks fascinating.

The film follows a character named Lancaster Dodd, "The Master," played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, a charismatic leader who creates a new religion in the 1950s and his main disciple (Joaquin Phoenix), an alcoholic drifter named Freddie Sutton who becomes Dodd's closest follower only to later break away from his teachings. The story is loosely based on the religion of Scientology.

The movie also stars Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, Amy Adams, and Rami Malek. Here's the previously relesed teaser trailer:

News Attack: AMERICAN BULLSHIT, LAST VEGAS, and FROZEN GROUND

Amy Adams is reteaming with The Fighter director David O. Russell on his next film, tentatively titled American Bullshit. The film is based on a true story that centers on con artist Mel Weinberg, who worked with the FBI in a far-reaching corruption case that stretched from Atlantic City to Washington, D.C. According to THR Adams "will play Maxine "Max" Gardner, mistress and co-conspirator of Weinberg." She joins the previously cast Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner, who just replaced Christian Bale in the film.

According to Deadline Kevin Kline will be joining Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Douglas in the the comedy Last Vegas. The movie is being directed by Jon Turteltaub from a script written by Dan Fogelman. The story follows four "old friends who decide to throw a Las Vegas bachelor party for the only one of them who has remained single." This sounds like it's going to be a funny comedy, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Here's a collection of photos giving us out first look at the serial killer film Frozen Ground starring John CusackNicolas Cage, and Vanessa Hudgens. The movie is based on a true story that "revolves around Alaska’s most notorious serial predator Robert Hansen (Cusack), who in the span of 12 years abducted more than 24 women, flew them into the Alaskan wilderness, and hunted and murdered them. Hudgens plays the one teenage victim who escaped, and Cage plays the Alaskan State Trooper who finds her on the street — together they work to bring Hansen to justice." It's going to be really interesting to see Cusack take on the role of a serial killer, this is something different from anything he's done before. Thanks to Deadline for the heads up on the photos, and Collider for providing better ones.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's THE LAST STAND Movie Poster Art

Not sure how we missed this during Comic-Con, but this is a Comic-Con poster for Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie The Last Stand. The poster was recently tweeted out by one of the film's stars, Jaimie Alexander (Thor). I love the poster design. It's got a classic badass kind of feel to it, and I can't wait to see Schwarzenegger back in action! This sounds like a great role for him to take on!

The action film is being directed by Kim Jee-Woon (The Good the Bad the Weird, I Saw the Devil) and also stars Luis GuzmanJohnny KnoxvilleJaimie Alexander, Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker, Rodrigo Santoro, Eduardo Noriega, Peter Stormare, Harry Dean Stanton, and Genesis Rodriguez

Schwarzenegger stars as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.

Here's a previously released photo... Do you think this sound like a good movie? Are you excited about seeing Schwarzenegger back in the movies?

Marc Webb May Not Direct THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Sequel

0
0

It looks like there's a big chance director The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb won't be back to direct the sequel. In a recent interview with THR, Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad had this to say when asked about Webb coming back...

We'd really like him back, but there are obstacles. He has an obligation to Fox. [Webb owes Fox a post-(500) Days of Summer film.]

So that sucks! I like what Webb did with Spider-Man, and it would be a shame if he wasn't able to return to finish the story that he started. If this is all of a sudden an obstacle it sounds like Webb and Fox are talking about doing something, but what could it be? Webb just made a great comic book adaptation, and Fox has a bunch of mutant Marvel properties as well, so it makes me wonder if they will bring him on to direct one of those. Deadpool could actually be directorless, as we haven't heard anything about the film since Tim Miller was named as the director. I figure if nothing has progressed after all this time, he must be off the project.

This is all just speculation, but for conversation sake, what would you think about Webb directing the Deadpool movie they've been trying to get off the ground? Who would you want to see replace him on the Spider-Man sequel?

THOR: THE DARK WORLD Villains Revealed?

0
0

First of all, if you don't want to know who the villains in Marvel's Thor: The Dark World are going to be, then I suggest you don't read beyond this point because I'm going to jump right into it.

The title for the Thor sequel was revealed at Comic-Con this last weekend, and many fans wondered and speculated what The Dark World means. I assumed it had something to do with the the story's villain, and it's looking like that might be the case.

In an interview with the site I Review Too, stuntman James Grogan let the cat out of the bag revealing that they would be playing elves in the movie, which leads us to believe the villains in the film will be the Dark Elves. Here's what he had to say...

The other day for example, this is quite random but I was working on Thor 2,” he explains, “I had a load of stunt guys in and the director came in and he said ‘Look, we want you all to be elves,’ and I was like ‘What the hell is an elf anyway?’ and he said ‘I want you all to walk around like these supernatural animals,’ honestly it was the most ridiculous thing ever but you just have to not be self aware and get on with it."

First of all, how does someone not know what an elf is!? Anyway, now that we've established the Dark Elves being in the film, it's safe to assume that Malekith the Accursed will be one of the main villains. After all, he is the leader of the Dark Elves. It would make sense as in the comics Loki and Malekith end up forming an alliance to to secure the Casket of Ancient Winters. Who knows if this will be one of the plot points in the film, but I can see it happening.

What do you think about Malekith the Accursed and the Dark Elves possibly being the villains in the Thor sequel?

Here's some more detailed information on the Dark Elves from wiki:

Dark Elves - The Dark Elves are ruled over by Malekith the Accursed, and the most powerful amongst their ranks was Algrim the Strong. However, Algrim was betrayed by Malekith in a bid to kill Thor. Algrim was dropped into lava and though he survived, he was critically wounded. The Beyonder transformed Algrim into the monstrous Kurse, who seemingly kills Malekith for the betrayal. Years later, Malekith reveals that he survived, and he sets forth an ultimately unsuccessful plot for Hercules to kill Alflyse, the Dark Elf Queen of the Eastern Spires.

The trio of Bitterhand, Wormwood, and Grendell serve Malekith loyally and have attempted to destroy Thor on several occasions, including once while Mjolnir was being reforged

Malekith the Accursed is a supervillain in the Marvel Universe. He is ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, and has come into conflict with Thor. He once wielded the Casket of Ancient Winters.

Malekith has all the normal attributes of a member of the race of dark elves, although his abilities are as a result of above average development. He possesses a gifted intellect, and superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes.

As a dark elf, Malekith also has the ability to manipulate the forces of magic for a variety of effects, including teleportation, energy projection, physical malleability, flight (by transforming into mist) illusion casting, and the ability to change the shape and appearance of other beings or objects.

Malekith has a vulnerability to iron, which disrupts or cancels his magical spells.

The Casket of Ancient Winters - An Asgardian relic and the greatest weapon of Malekith the Accursed. When opened, it can reproduce the infinite icy cold of Niflheim. Later entrusted to the care of Edwin Jarvis, butler to the Avengers, by Thor. Causes its holder to grow younger gradually.

Here is a cool piece of poster art for M. Night Shyamalan's After Earth by Hopko Designs. The poster shows what looks to be Jaden Smith's charater peering down from a cliff. I am excited to see this movie, and hope that Shyamalan will finally deliever another good film.

Detailed Plot Synopsis from an earlier post:

In After Earth, one thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind’s new home. Sam Raimi Says New EVIL DEAD Movie Is Gut-Wrenching

0
0

A lot of fans of the original Evil Dead films are torn by this remake that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are producing. I'm actually excited for it, and the reason why is because Raimi and Campbell are excited as well. If they're looking forward to the movie being made and released, why shouldn't we be?

While at Comic-Con, Raimi talked to MTV about the film, and here's what he had to say...

"We have a few more days of photography," said Raimi, who added that he was excited to see it.

As for whether he sees the new film as honoring his original, Raimi said he doesn't approach it that way. "I don't think about it like that. I just think Fede Alvarez has really made a great horror movie," he said. "It's scary. The actors are great in it. It's really gut-wrenching, real low budget and intense."

See, I can get behind that! As we previously reported, apparently this new version is how Raimi originally envisioned his Evil Dead film, a dark gory horror film. That's the kind of film they set out to make in 1981, but it ended up being a great horror comedy due to the restraints they had. When this new Evil Dead movie was first being discussed Raimi said he wanted to do it so that he could show his original vision for the movie. Bruce Campbell added,

You can expect to have a damn scary horror movie. There's no Ash character -- The Evil Book is going to torment a new set of kids, so it's a remake, or a re-imagining or ... a re-whatever word you want to use. It's going to be re-scary.

I can't wait to see how this turns out, and I don't see why it wouldn't be as good as they say it will be. Are you excited for this new Evil Dead film? Or are you still pissed that it's getting remade?

The story follows five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) who hole up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead. A demonic force is unleashed, possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. Other information on the film reveals that the lead character takes his younger sister to the family's cabin to help her kick her drug addiction. Without her drugs she becomes insane and difficult to control, which makes it impossible to see that she's actually possessed.

You can watch the interview below in which he also talks about what he thinks of The Amazing Spider-Man.

JUMANJI Reboot and Sequels to MIB 3 and 21 JUMP STREET

0
0

Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad recently did an interview with THR in which he revealed some information on a few familiar film projects they are working on getting into production.

One of the big surprises he revealed was that the studio is looking to reboot 1995's Jumanji. The original movie was directed by Joe Johnston (Captain America) and starred Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, and Kirsten Dunst.

We're going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present.

I actually tried to show the orignal movie to my kids recently, and they just weren't into it. This is one of those movies I could care less about, so if they want to remake it, fine. I don't see the point, but it's their money.

He then went on to say that a 21 Jump Street sequel is gearing up to start shooting in the fall,

...we plan to start shooting in the fall. There are very few actors -- I'm going to quote Amy -- who can do romance, action and comedy. We're in business with two of them, Channing Tatum and Will Smith.

I loved 21 Jump Street, and I'm excited to hear that a sequel is happening. This is the best thing I've seen Tatum do, and I wouldn't mind to see the comedic insanity continue.

As for another Men in Black movie, the last one made $615.5 million dollars. So of course, Sony is going to make another one!

We're very pleased with the financial performance of Men in Black 3, and we believe it is an ongoing franchise. We're going to do [another one], but we don't have clarity yet on how it should be done.

I thought they did a fantastic job with the third movie. Sure it was full of holes, but it was still fun and entertaining. There's a whole fun universe to play around with, and if they made another MIB movie, I'd watch it.

What do you think about all of these film projects Sony is working on? Which of these are you least excited about?

James Bond SKYFALL Aston Martin Featurette

A new video blog for Sam Mendes' Skyfall has been released, and it focuses on James Bond's classic slick ride... the Aston Martin DB5. It's back and better than ever! This is the car that completes that badassery of 007. I'd love to have one of these, but I do live in reality and know that it will probably never happen. I just noticed I used the word 'probably' when writing that last sentence, so deep down I must still be holding on to hope. So much for reality! Enjoy the video!

TOTAL RECALL 3-Breasted Woman Comic-Con Pics

Sony Pictures has released two Comic-Con photos of Kaitlyn Leeb as the three-breasted woman fromTotal Recall posing with Jessica Biel and Bryan Cranston. I'm not really a big fan of the three breasts, but to each their own. And no... they are not real.

Here's the Official Synopsis:

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. The film is directed by Len Wiseman. The screenplay is by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and the screen story is by Ronald Shusett & Dan O'Bannon and Jon Povill. The producers are Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe.

STAR WARS Pod Racer Stroller

Star Wars: The Phantom Meanace may have sucked, but this custom made pod racer stroller is pretty damn awesome. The stoller was pushed in one of the final legs of the Course of the Force race to San Diego Comic-Con by a Tusken Raider.

THE WOLVERINE - New Actress Up for the Role of Viper

0
0

Last week it was announced that Jessica Biel was in talks to take on the role of Viper in James Mangold's The Wolverine. Things ended up not working out, and Biel didn't take the part. So the studio went back out on the hunt for another actress, and it didn't take them long to find another one.

Russian Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy actress Svetlana Khodchenkova is the studio's number two choice. As much as I was on board with Biel taking on the role, Khodchenkova is a much better fit for the part. She falls in line with the origins of the Viper character from the comic books as she comes from an Eastern European country.

Viper is a professional terrorist and has her own organization. Throughout the comics she has come into conflict with many superheroes and supervillains over the years. Her nihilism and tendency to spread death around her has made it hard for other villains to associate with her.

Here's a little more detialed info on the character that we previously reported:

As for her relationship with Wolverine, in the comics she "blackmailed him into marrying her as a means to secure her criminal empire in Madripoor. Although this was a marriage of convenience, she did request to consummate the arrangement. Some time later, her body was briefly inhabited by the spirit of Ogun, and Wolverine mortally wounded her as a means of driving the spirit from her dying body. In return for seeking medical attention to save her life, Wolverine demanded a divorce. It is later implied that she actually had feelings for Wolverine."

The feature is based on the classic Chris Claremont and Frank Miller 1982 story arc in the Wolverine comics. The story will follow Logan, who starts "a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won't take "no" for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers and Silver Samurai."

What do you all think about Khodchenkova being cast in the role of Viper?

Full Trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson's THE MASTER

The Master is sure to stir up a little controversy, as it's loosely based on the religion of Scientology. All that matters to me, though, is that it ends up being another great Paul Thomas Anderson film. I love the way he tells his twistedly unique stories, and his latest movie looks like it's going to be a phenomenal film. The Wienstein Company just released a trailer that you can watch now!

Here's the short synopsis:

A charismatic man returns home to America from World War II and forms a faith-based organization. He is now known as "the Master" and his belief system is catching on. As the group is gaining momentum and adding new converts, a young drifter arrives and becomes the Master’s invaluable aid.

The movie stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, a charismatic leader who creates a new religion in the 1950s, and Joaquin Phoenix plays his main disciple an alcoholic drifter. Rounding out the cast there is Jesse PlemonsDavid WarshofskyAmy Adams, and Rami Malek

The movie will be released this fall. Watch the new trailer below and tell us know if you're interested in watching Anderson's latest movie!
