Marvel Studios and director James Gunn are prepping up for their epic space adventure film Guardians of the Galaxy. They're currently looking for the leading man to take on the role of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord in the movie. There's a small group of actors that our testing for the part, and according to Deadline this is who is in the running as of right now...
Joel Edgerton (The Warrior), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (Lincoln and The Hobbit), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men) and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom)
This is a very wide variety of different types of actors. They all have very different attributes and looks, so it's interesting to see the wide range they have for this character. The story follows a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants. Star-Lord is the pilot and leader of the space superhero team.
This is a solid list of actors, and all of them are very good at what the do but it's hard to tell who the right choice is for the part. James Marsden seems to be the best fit in my mind, he has a great onscreen personality that can be both serious and fun. Who do you think would be a good fit for the part?
