Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX doesn't come out until December 2nd of this year, but in the meantime you can get a better look at the upgraded visuals (and some new costumes to boot) in the newly released SD/HD Comparison trailer below. The trailer focuses on the trio's time in Christmas land, but you can peep some additional screens in the gallery below that showcase some of the other worlds, such as Tron, Hercules, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more.

With the release being closer and closer, it might be time to replay the first one since I remember the intricacies of that plot anymore. I can't help but get excited for the 2nd ReMix with Kingdom Hearts 3 within sight.

Growing Up Geek - The Hounds of Hell

For some reason, people think I hate dogs. But that's not true... dogs hate me. I have a long history of dogs that have shown their dislike for me. I don't know why they don't like me, but ever since I was a little kid they have been out to get me.

One of my earliest memories of a dog is when I was in the second grade. The school I went to was right around the corner from our apartment. Back in those days it was ok for kids like me to walk to school on their own. As I was walking to school one morning, I was passing by an alley way. As I looked over, I saw a big ass black dog walking toward me. I stopped and looked at it, and it stopped and looked at me. All of a sudden this fear engulfed me, and the dog must have smelled that fear because the next thing I knew it started barking at me and I ran like a bat out of hell, and then it started to chase me down the street!

The only thing I could think of was to make it to school and try to get into class. There was a long staircase on the side of the school that ran up to a door that led to the playground. I ran up the stairs with the dog literally nipping at my heels. As I ran through the door I immediately saw a metal slide and ran right toward it and up the ladder. I was finally safe from that damn evil dog. It barked at me for a bit before a teacher came out and chased it away.

The animal seemed like a combination of Chopper from Stand By Me, the Beast from The Sandlot, and Stephen King's Cujo. When I think back at that dog now I always seem to imagine it with red glowing eyes. The first time I saw the movie Attack The Block, those deep black aliens in the film instantly reminded me of that dog. Dogs became a nightmare for me for a long time. I bet those dogs weren't even that big or scary, but as a kid they seemed like giant monsters.

That wasn't the only time a dog chased me on my way to school either! There was a big white shaggy dog that came after me one day, and I ended up hiding in a candy store near the school where I would buy my delicious treats and Garbage Pail Kids cards. I would usually hide in there if I saw a dog on on the street, an wait there until it went away.  I bought a lot of Garbage Pail Kids cards at that place. I don't know why, but I never really talked to my parents about these dog experiences until I was older.

Since I was a kid I have always been barked at, jumped on while being barked at, and attacked. I even got bit in the ass by a dog when I was teenager right in front of all of my friends, including a girl I had a crash on. Now that I think about it, it was actually her dog!

I've also heard the following statement from several dog owners, "He (or she) never acts like this, they are usually very friendly." Yeah, well... Apparently there's just something about me that dogs don't like. I'm convinced that I'm cursed to walk the earth constantly being hunted by what I call the Hounds of Hell. If I ever die of anything other than a natural death, it's because I will be mauled to death by one of these hellish animals. Needless to say I still do kind of have a fear of dogs.

Trailer for Bill Murray's New Comedy ST. VINCENT

It seems like it's been awhile since Bill Murray has had the lead role in a movie. The last film he really headlined was 2012s Hyde Park on Hudson. Other than that, he's only been taking on a bunch of smaller roles. He's back in comedic action though in a new film called St. Vincent, which looks fantastic! Murray is such an amazing actor, and it's so good to see him in top notch form in this film. The movie also stars Melissa McCarthy, Chris O'Dowd, and Naomi Watts.

The movie starts out with a single mother named Maggie (McCarthy), "who moves into a new home in Brooklyn with her 12-year old son, Oliver (Lieberher). Forced to work long hours, she has no choice but to leave Oliver in the care of their new neighbor, Vincent (Murray), a retired curmudgeon with a penchant for alcohol and gambling. An odd friendship soon blossoms between the improbable pair. Together with a pregnant stripper named Daka (Watts), Vincent brings Oliver along on all the stops that make up his daily routine - the race track, a strip club, and the local dive bar. Vincent helps Oliver grow to become a man, while Oliver begins to see in Vincent something that no one else is able to: a misunderstood man with a good heart."

St. Vincent will be released in theater on October 24th.

James Gunn Teases Sakaaran Soldiers in New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Set Photo

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn released a new photo from the set of the upcoming Marvel film. The photo shows off a couple of Sakaaran soldiers, who were originally introduced within the Planet Hulk storyline. It looks like they've found their way into Marvel Cinematic Universe. The photo also shows off their Necrocraft. Here's the note that came along with the photo.

#gotgpicoftheday Onboard half a Necrocraft (organic flight machinery at its finest) with a couple of Sakaaran soldiers in tow. #guardiansofthegalaxy#

The fact that Sakaaran soldiers are being included in the story tell me that there might be some actual truth to those recent rumors about where the Marvel cinematic universe will take Hulk.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES - Poster Art and Prequel Shorts

A few new pieces of poster art have surfaced for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The poster above was created by Janee Meadows, and it's filled with a variety of characters making up an ape skull. The first poster below was created by UK artist Matt Needle, and it puts the spotlight on the ape leader Caesar. That's followed by posters from Mainger, Zombie Yeti, and Orlando Arocena. I really like these because they aren't the tradition-style pieces of crap that we're used to seeing in movie poster art.

I've also included three prequel short films that were created for the movie that focus on the 10 years between the first movie and this sequel. Each short was made by a different director, and they follow the progression of the "simian flu" virus that ends up killing most of the human population.

The Matt Reeves-directed sequel stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, and Judy Greer. It's set to hit theaters on July 11th, 2014.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN - First Photo of the Man of Steel!

henrycavillsupermannewlarge.jpg

Warner Bros. has released the first official photo of Henry Cavill as Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. His outfit isn't really all that different from the first version of the costume, which is fine! I like the costume design the filmmakers came up with.

The image originated from USA Today who talked to Zack Synder about the film. The director told them that adding other DC Comics characters such as Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) makes the story "thicker, denser and more epic" than Man of Steel. It's also the next logical step toward "building a strong movie universe that ultimately leads to Snyder's Justice League."

USA Today goes on to talk about the story a little saying, "'Dawn of Justice continues to immerse Superman on Earth by working at the Daily Planet as Clark Kent along with Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and Perry White (Laurence Fishburne). But it also takes him to new environments such as Gotham City and introduces larger threats, including Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). The debuting heroes Superman meets will affect his perspective on Earth and on the ones he loves, and Snyder feels his convictions will be drawn into question as well."

Snyder goes on to discuss Affleck's Batman, saying we can expect an older, road-weary take on the Caped Crusader, which is something we already knew. "It's cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys." As for Cavill, the director explains that he's much more comfortable in the role, and adds, "We've both created this guy and we can push him around a little bit. The more time I spend with Henry, the more he's Superman to me."

Snyder also explained the 'v' in the title of the film instead of the traditional 'vs.' He says they did it "to keep it from being a straight 'versus' movie, even in the most subtle way."

The director tells them that he hasn't filmed any scenes with Gadot as Wonder Woman yet, but of course he has to talk up his movie saying, "You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it's Batman and Superman, let's just be honest. I don't know how you get bigger than that."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.

Powerful Teaser Trailer for FOXCATCHER with Carell, Tatum, and Ruffalo

powerful-teaser-trailer-for-foxcatcher-with-carell-tatum-and-ruffalo

Damn, Foxcatcher looks freakin' great! This trailer actually sent chills down my spine. The film tells the dark and fascinating true story of the unlikely and ultimately tragic relationship between an eccentric multi-millionaire, John duPont (Steve Carell) and two champion wrestlers, Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) and Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo), which eventually led to murder.

This movie looks like it could not only get an Oscar nomination for Carell, but Tatum as well. Both of these actors completely transform, and lose themselves in these characters. Here's a more detailed synopsis:

When Olympic Gold Medal winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) is invited by wealthy heir John du Pont (Steve Carell) to move on to the du Pont estate and help form a team to train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics at his new state-of-the-art training facility, Schultz jumps at the opportunity, hoping to focus on his training and finally step out of the shadow of his revered brother, Dave (Mark Ruffalo). Driven by hidden needs, du Pont sees backing Schultz's bid for Gold and the chance to "coach" a world-class wrestling team as an opportunity to gain the elusive respect of his peers and, more importantly, his disapproving mother (Vanessa Redgrave).

Flattered by the attention and entranced by du Pont's majestic world, Mark comes to see his benefactor as a father figure and grows increasingly dependent on him for approval. Though initially supportive, du Pont's mercurial personality turns and he begins to lure Mark into an unhealthy lifestyle that threatens to undermine his training. Soon du Pont's erratic behavior and cruel psychological game-play begin to erode the athlete's already shaky self-esteem. Meanwhile du Pont becomes fixated on Dave, who exudes the confidence both he and Mark lack, knowing that these are things even his money cannot buy. Fueled by du Pont's increasing paranoia and alienation from the brothers, the trio is propelled towards a tragedy no one could have foreseen.

The movie comes out on November 14th, and it's shot up on my list of must see movies of 2014.

The legendary Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli has a new film coming out called When Marnie Was There, and today we have the first trailer for it to share with you! The film is an adaptation of the book written by Joan G. Robinson, and it is being directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (The Secret World of Arrietty). The story follows a young girl who befriends another girl named Marnie who just happens to be a ghost.

The book that the film is based on is number 18 on Hayao Miyazaki's 50 Recommended Children's Books list. It looks like another great movie from Studio Ghibli, and I'll be looking forward to seeing it. The film will be released in Japan in July, but there's not U.S. release date yet. I imagine Disney will eventually pick it up for distribution here in the states. Thanks to Twitch for the heads up!

Artist Jebedai Couture made this kick-ass set of Spider-Man fan art he calls Spidey versus Venom. As you can see they feature Spider-Man being hunted by Venom, and it looks like our hero is about to get a major beat down. Venom is such a great villain, and I hope the movie about him being developed by Alex Kurtzman turns out to be a good one.

Writers Hired for G.I. JOE 3 and ENCHANTED 2

Paramount Pictures is moving forward with their plans for a third G.I. Joe movie, and they've hired Jonathan Lemkin to write the script. According to Variety, the story will focus on Dwayne Johnson's character, Roadblock, who was introduced in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Lemkin has previously worked on films such as Shooter with Mark Wahlberg, Devil's Advocate with Keanu Reeves, and Lethal Weapon 4. The studio is hoping to get the sequel into production in 2015 for a 2016 release. As big of a fan I am of the G.I. Joe franchise, the live-action movies that have been made sure have been a big letdown. This is one franchise I wouldn't mind seeing rebooted.

enchanted-4fdba554c952d.jpg

In other news, Disney has decided to dust off their plans for an Enchanted sequel and move it into development. The studio has hired J. David Stem and David N. Weiss to take on the duties of writing the screenplay. They are best known for their work on The Smurfs movie and Shrek 2. I enjoyed the first one, and it will be interesting to see what they bring to the sequel. Enchanted was released in 2007 with Amy Adams in the lead role. The movie also starred Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon. There's no information on who from the first film will return if any. Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, The Guilt Trip) is set to direct the sequel.

The fourth and final season of The Killing is set to premiere on Netflix, and today we bring you a trailer for the murder mystery series. I really like the series, and I'm so happy that Netflix saved the show and brought it back to finish the story that the creators set out to tell.

The final season of the show picks up right after the Season 3 finale.

"As Detective Linden (Mireille Enos) and Detective Holder (Joel Kinnaman) struggle to manage the fallout from their rash actions at the end of last season, they are assigned a new case -- a picture perfect family is murdered, survived only by the son, Kyle Stansbury (Tyler Ross), who was shot in the head during the massacre. Joan Allen guest stars this season as Colonel Margaret Rayne, the headmaster of the all-boys military academy where Kyle attends."

The full season will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix on August 1st!

Cartoonist Alex Dempsey created a charming series of art that mashes up Doctor Who and Adventure Time. He calls the set "Adventure Time and Space!" I found the illustrations over at io9, and this is a quote that they got from the artist:

"I've always loved crossovers where there's a link between the two pieces of media. I find it justifies the crossover and gives them a reason to be thrown together. In [the case of Adventure Time and Space!], it was the link between the term 'An Adventure in Time and Space' and the Title 'Adventure Time' and putting the two shows together seemed to work perfectly."

Why yes it does.

3 Villains Added to BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

3-villains-added-to-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice

Thanks to our friends at Latino-Review, we've got some new information on Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The site reveals that there will be three additional villains introduced in the movie, and that they are lesser known characters. There's no information on how big of a part these characters will play, but if you don't want to know who they are then I suggest you stop reading now. You clicked through to read the post though, so you knew what you were getting yourself into!

The villains include:

batmavsuperman7vilainfhf

Victor Zsasz - He is a serial killer that Batman fights early on in Gotham City. He's a brutal killer with a knife and he carves a tally mark somewhere on himself for every victim. He's a really jacked up individual.

Morgan Edge - This guy is a public relations exwcutive for Lexcorp and a real douchebag. He's basically Lex Luthor's mouth piece. The site goes on to say that we "meet Edge early on when he goes toe to toe with Lois Lane in a television talk show. In the movie's backstory, Edge and Luthor were members of the most notorious gangs ever to come out of Hob's Bay."

David Cain - He's one of the world's deadliest assassins, and apparently he meets with Luthor's bodyguard, Mercy Graves, to set up an assassination.

There's also a bonus character that the site brings up! Her name is Amanda Waller. She is described as being a "very stern and focused senator with an intimidating presence. She doesn't trust Superman. At all. Sees him as a threat and comes up with a counter measure."

The site won't say what that counter measure is, but I'm sure it's going to be something crazy that, in the end, won't stop him from doing what he does.

It doesn't sound like these are going to be main villains in the story, so I'm not worried about any kind of overcrowding. What do you think about these three characters being included in the story?

Trailer for the Psychological Thriller BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP

Before I Go To Sleep New Picture (2).jpg

Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth star in a psychological thriller called Before I Go To Sleep, and today we have an international trailer for you to watch. The movie is based on the bestselling mystery book by first-time author S.J. Watson, and the story follow an amnesiac, Christine (Kidman), who needs to solve a dark riddle. The only problem is she forgets the progress she has made every 24 hours. Yes, I know this sounds a lot like Memento. Christine is reliant on the help of Firth's character as she navigates her incredibly frustrating life. As she continues her search for answers, she discovers some terrifying new information that throws everything she thinks she knows into question.

The movie was written and directed by Rowan Joffe, who had this to say about it in an statement to Empire:

"It's classic noir. They remind me of a Hitchcock pairing: a tall, dark handsome lead and a beautiful blonde playing psychological cat and mouse!"

It does have kind of a Hitchcockian feel to it, and I really enjoy watching these kinds of movies, so I'll be checking it out. The movie also stars Mark Strong, and there's no release date yet for here in the U.S.
