Artist Josh Burns has created a couple of incredibly cool illustrations featuring two popular DC Comics femme fatales: Poison Ivy and Catwoman. I previously posted some of Burns' art for Voltron and Silverhawks, which you can check out here and here. As you can see, the guy has a beautiful art style, and I love what he’s done with these two DC characters.

Super Cool Raven TEEN TITANS Cosplay
Cosplayer Manda Cowled looks pretty incredible as Raven from Teen Titans in these photos by Bermingham Photography. I’m a fan of this character and this costume is spot on. One of the images also includes Starfire, who is being cosplayed by Ashe Rogue. If you’re a fan of these Teen Titans characters, I’m sure you’ll really dig these photos.
LEGO-Style Braille Bricks Help Blind Children Learn To Read
I love coming across stuff like this: geeky things we love transformed into things that help make the world a better place. The Dorina Nowill Foundation For The Blind has teamed up with the Lew’Lara/TBWA agency to create Braille Bricks that look like LEGO blocks. They were created to help the visually-impaired learn to read and also have fun doing it at the same time. The bricks can also be used to help other kids learn Braille as well and foster more inclusion and play for everyone.
As of right now, there are 300 sets that have been made for the students of the Dorina Nowill Foundation. It was explained that these designs are distributed under Creative Commons Attribution-Share A like 4.0 International license, which means that it is free to share or adapt for any purpose.
It would be awesome to see LEGO jump on board and take this concept to the next level.

FRUIT NINJA IN REAL LIFE: PART II — Short Film
It’s been a long time since I’ve played Fruit Ninja on my phone. Do people still even play it anymore? That doesn’t matter to YouTube user ScottDW, who recently released a live-action Fruit Ninja short film called Fruit Ninja in Real Life: Part II. Yes, there was a Part I that he made in 2012. In case you haven’t seen that first one yet, I included it below for you to watch. If you like watching ninjas slicing up flying fruit, then you’ll enjoy these videos!
These Darth Vader-Themed Shoes Are Absurdly Insane
I don’t know what in the hell is up with these Darth Vader-themed Star Wars sneakers, but they are the most ridiculous shoes I think I’ve ever seen. I don’t understand what is happening with these things or who in their right mind would ever wear them.
The shoes come from Irregular Choice and it's their newest addition to their Star Wars shoe collection. These are the R-Series Vader trainers, and it looks like a glittery rainbow riding a unicorn barfed them out.

Artist Marco D’Alfonso has created a couple pieces of incredibly fun Deadpool art that pay tribute to the classic Alan Moore comic The Killing Joke. Two of the iconic covers from this hardcore Batman and Joker story arc have been recreated with Deadpool in place of The Joker, and each one includes a hilarious twist that only Deadpool can give us.
Fantastical Animated Sci-Fi Short BANDITO MACHINE V - PULL THE TRIGGER
Zumbakamera is the creator of a cool animated series called Bandito Machine and they’ve recently released the fifth installment of the series. It’s called Pull the Trigger, and this is the brief story summary:
“An exotic traveler from far away. An unexplored territory. A turbulent conflict. The storm will pass."
Just in case you haven’t seen the previously released films, I also included those as well. They’re all worth checking out. The team behind this series isn’t done developing them, so keep a look out for one more, which is said to be the grand finale of this series.
DOCTOR WHO Dalek Wood Burning Fire Pit
This Doctor Who-inspired Dalek fire pit was built by Owen James of UK based automotive and motorcycle customizers Maven Industries. I guess even hardcore motorcycle guys can have a badass geeky side to them.
Unused CIVIL WAR Concept Art Features a Purple-Masked Baron Zemo
We’ve got a great piece of unused concept art for Captain America: Civil War that features a very different Baron Zemo than what we saw in the movie. The art was created by Marvel movie concept artist Andy Park, and as you can see, the design is much more inspired by the look of the character in the the comic books including his signature purple mask.
Personally, I liked how Zemo was presented in Civil War. The fact that he wasn’t wearing the costume made him a little bit more frightening because he just looked like a regular guy. You’d never know he was a villain. Who knows, though. Maybe somewhere down the line the character will return, and maybe next time he’ll be sporting this costume.

The First Official JAWS Costume Mask is Bloody Brutal
“Smile, you son of a bitch!”
This is the first officially-licensed shark mask for Steven Spielberg’s classic 1976 film Jaws, and it’s kind of terrifying.
This mask was designed and sculpted by Mikey Rottela, and it awesomely captures the shark's final scene in the movie. It includes the scuba tank that was shot to blow up the shark. You can also see part of Quint’s hand in its mouth.
Every detail of Bruce in the closing scene is captured in this amazing likeness, including the tank that Brody shoots and the remains of Quint's hand. This mask fits perfectly due to the foam filling on the inside, which lines your eyes perfectly with the eye cutouts in Bruce's mouth. So get yourself a Jaws Bruce The Shark Mask and be the ultimate land shark.
You can buy the mask here for $79.99.
Fantastically Enchanting New Trailer for THE BFG
“Hold your breath, cross your fingers, here we go.”
This weekend Steven Spielberg’s magical fantasy film The BFG premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. It was met with mixed reviews. Some people seemed to enjoy it, while others were disappointed with how it turned out. Many people are saying that it is a movie that kids will enjoy, but that it’s lacking that Spielberg magic that many of us were hoping to see.
A new trailer was released for the film, and it’s pretty damn wonderful! It’s full of magic and excitement, and it sure does make the movie look good! Of course, that’s what a movie trailer is supposed to do. It’s supposed to get people like me excited for the movie. As a fan of Spielberg and this book, of course I’m going to see the movie. I’m not going to let the bad reviews keep me away.
The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the mysterious giant who has brought her to his cave, but soon comes to realize that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming, and, having never met a giant before, has many questions. The BFG brings Sophie to Dream Country where he collects dreams and sends them to children, teaching her all about the magic and mystery of dreams. Having both been on their own in the world up until now, their affection for one another quickly grows, but Sophie’s presence in Giant Country has attracted the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have become increasingly more bothersome. Sophie and the BFG soon depart for London to see the Queen (Penelope Wilton) and warn her of the precarious giant situation, but they must first convince the Queen and her maid, Mary (Rebecca Hall), that giants do indeed exist. Together, they come up with a plan to get rid of the giants once and for all.
The BFG stomps into theaters on July 1st, 2016.
First Look at Channing Tatum on the Set of KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE
If you've been following the news regarding Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Golden Circle, then you know that Channing Tatum joined the project about a month ago. The sequel is currently shooting in London, and Tatum was spotted on set all decked out as a secret agent. He's got the suit, glasses, umbrella, and everything.
In the sequel, there's an attack on Kingsman HQ, and Eggsy and Merlin head to the United States to enlist the help from the Statesman, an American spy organization lead by a “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” named Jack Daniels played by Pedro Pascal and a woman named Ginger, who is being played by Halle Berry.
Taron Egerton will reprise his role as Eggsy with Mark Strong reprising the role of Merlin. The movie also stars Julianne Moore who is set to play the film’s central villain. It's also heavily teased that Collin Firth will be back to reprise his role, and Elton John is also in talks to make an appearance in some capacity.
The movie is set to be released on June 16th, 2017, and there's no doubt that it will be at least as entertaining as the first movie.

Jennifer Lawrence in Talks to Join the All Female OCEAN'S 11 Reboot
Earlier this year it was announced that Gary Ross would be developing an all-female reboot of Ocean's 11, and Sandra Bullock was already cast in the movie. Now it looks like she will be joined by Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence!
The Tracking Board reports that the actress is currently in talks to join the Warner Bros. film project. If the deal goes through, it would reunite Lawrence with Ross, who directed her in the first Hunger Games film. We also have some possible additional details on the story. The report says:
Apparently this new film will be a continuation of the George Clooney-led films, with Bullock playing Danny Ocean’s ex-con sister. With help from her right-hand woman (Lawrence, presumably taking the Brad Pitt slot), she’ll form a team of thieves to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner.
I’m very open to this film as it was being developed by the late producer Jerry Weintraub, Steven Soderbergh, who directed the first two wonderful films, and Clooney. We also know that screenwriter Olivia Milch (Queen & Country, Little Women) has been working on the screenplay.
Shooting is expected to begin this fall, and I’m interested to see how this thing turns out. If cast, Lawrence will make a wonderful addition to this film.
Freaky-Ass Featurette for THE CONJURING 2 Focuses on True Story
Universal Pictures has released a crazy creepy featurette for James Wan's upcoming horror film The Conjuring 2. This film tells the true story of a family who was terrorized by a poltergeist, which became known as The Enfield Poltergeist. This featurette is called "Strange Happenings in Enfield," and it focuses on the true story aspect of the film. It includes interviews with the victims who were actually involved with this nightmarish event, including Janet Hodgson, the girl who was actually possessed, and of course, legendary paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren.
One of the creepiest and most unsettling parts of the featurette was listening to an actual recording of the possessed 11-year-old girl. It's pretty damn haunting. It definitely adds some credence to the movie. Of course, the movie is going to embellish the story, but I would love to see a documentary that tells all the gritty details of this paranormal event.
The Conjuring 2 brings to the screen another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.
The Conjuring 2 arrives in theaters on June 10th.
New Footage of Krang in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES TV Spots
Three new TV spots have been released for director Dave Green’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Two of them include new footage of the brain-like alien villain Krang as well as new footage of several of the other characters. It seems like a lot of fans are excited to see Krang make an appearance in this sequel. From what I’ve seen of the film, it looks like producer Michael Bay and the rest of the creative team wanted to heavily represent the cartoon series that many of us grew up with. That’s what fans were hoping to see in the first film. It looks like the producers heard their complaints and are trying to make up for it in the sequel. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all turns out.
The Ninja Turtles come into conflict with T.C.R.I. scientist Dr. Baxter Stockman with the association of the Foot Clan and the return of the Shredder, who has hired Stockman to create mutants of their own in the form of Bebop and Rocksteady and an unknown invasion above New York City. To prevent the end of the world, the turtles and their human friends April O'Neil and Vern Fenwick comes to the aid with vigilante Casey Jones.
Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, and Noel Fisher are reprising their roles as Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo. Johnny Knoxville is providing the voice of Leonardo again. The movie also sees the return of Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, and William Fichtner as Eric Sacks. Some of the newcomers include Tyler Perry as scientist Baxter Stockman, WWE Star Sheamus as Rocksteady, Gary Anthony Williams as Bebop, Brittany Ishibashi as Karai, Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, and Brian Tee as Shredder.
The movie comes out on June 3rd.
Helen Mirren Set to Star in the Supernatural Winchester Mansion Horror Thriller
Helen Mirren is set to star in the supernatural horror thriller Winchester. The film is set at the famous haunted Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA, and Mirren will play Sarah Winchester, the multimillionaire heiress to the Winchester Arms fortune.
After Winchester’s husband and child suddenly died, Sarah was convinced that she had been cursed by the gun that her husband had invented and that the ghosts of the people killed by the Winchester guns haunted her. To appease the spirits, a medium sent Sarah to San Jose in 1884, and she began an insane 38 year, 24/7 construction project to build a 24,000-square foot, 160-room Gothic mansion. The mansion has become a popular tourist attraction as it is known for its many staircases and corridors leading nowhere.
The movie is being written and directed by Daybreakers helmers Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig. They will start shooting the film next year on location at the actual Winchester Mansion where all of this insanity went down.
Mirren is a hell of a great actress, and it’s awesome that they were able to get her to sign on for the lead role. That alone tells us that this project is shaping up to be a strong film. I’ve been fascinated by the history of this house since I first heard about and have even gone to it a couple of times to take the tour. It’s always a blast and I can’t wait to see how this movie turns out.

Simon Kinberg Offers Update on GAMBIT and How DEADPOOL Helped it Along
Fox’s Gambit film project hasn’t had a smooth road since it was first announced. At one point Channing Tatum was looking to drop out of the project, then director Rupert Wyatt bailed on the project and was quickly replaced by Doug Liman, and then recently the film was pulled from Fox’s release schedule. The movie is still moving forward, though!
Producer Simon Kinberg recently offered an update on the film. In that update, he explained why the film was delayed and how Deadpool helped with finding the right tone. When talking about the delay of the film, he said that they are still looking to get the script right:
"We've gotta get the script right. We just didn't get the script to the place that we all felt like that movie deserved, so we're still working on the script -- we're very close, actually, to being done with the script."
He also talked about finding the right tone for Gambit, and how Tim Miller's Deadpool has helped him in doing that:
"I think one of the things that I've learned on all of these movies -- and maybe the lesson was best learned for me on 'Deadpool' -- is the most important thing is getting the tone and the voice right. That the storytelling, the actual plots, are sort of interchangeable and disposable, ultimately. If I ask you what your favorite movies are, you're not going to tell me the plot, you're going to tell me you love this character, and so what we've really tried to do with 'Gambit' is make sure we get the voice of that character right, and the tone of the comics 100 percent on the page."
Let’s be honest, though, a movie needs a decent plot. The plot of the film is what drives the character! The plot plays a huge role in why we love these characters! It’s great that they are trying to get the character right, but hopefully they come up with a great story for him as well. Kingbird also said:
"There was a moment where we were going to shoot the movie at the beginning of this year, and then we felt it just wasn't ready. So, knowing -- hoping -- that 'Gambit' is, like 'Deadpool' was, the start of a new franchise within the X-Men universe, we want to make sure to get it right."
Fox and the producers are still keen on making this movie. It’s just taking a lot longer than expected. Hopefully, they can work everything out and make a great Gambit flick.

A New Season of THE X-FILES Is Coming Together at Fox
It's looking like Fox and Chris Carter are going to get another season of The X-Files! I absolutely loved the installment of the series that aired earlier this year, and I, along with many other fans, were hoping that that we would see the supernatural adventures of Agent Mulder and Agent Scully continue.
During a recent press call, Fox TV Group chairmans Dana Walden and Gary Newman were asked about their plans for another installment of The X-Files, and Walden offered a very optimistic reply:
“We have had conversations with (creator) Chris Carter and (stars) David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show.”
All of the people involved with the series are doing different projects at the moment, and they are scattered all over the world, but Walden is hopeful they will have something to announce next year. She explains, “Hopefully this season we will be able to get it done and that the same time next year (May), we will have something to announce.”
Newman went on to talk about the discussions that are taking place with Carter, Duchovny, and Anderson, and how they have included talks about “what kind of episodic order makes sense. Some of that is driven by schedules.” He went on to reiterate:
“Conversations are ongoing. I can tell you that all of them would like to do more of these, and certainly the network and studio want to do more.”
The next X-Files event season is tentatively being planned for the 2017-18 season. I couldn't be more excited to hear that the everyone is looking to move forward with more X-Files greatness!
