THE NICE GUYS: Final Trailer For Shane Black's '70s-Set L.A. Noir Comedy

I've written before about my love for Shane Black movies, and his new 1970s-set L.A. noir comedy The Nice Guys is one of my most anticipated movies of the year. Black has a talent for crafting rapid-fire, super smart dialogue, a knack for creating excellent character dynamics, a great eye for casting the perfect people to portray his lead roles, and the skills to pull the whole story together from behind the camera. I've been sold on this movie since it was announced and I've broken down and watched the other trailers; since the movie comes out later this month, I'm not even going to watch this trailer.

The Nice Guys hits theaters on May 20th.

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March (Ryan Gosling) and hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.

Kit Harington Shoots Down GAME OF THRONES Fan Theory About Jon Snow

$

This article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season 6, episode 2, "Home."

When Jon Snow was resurrected at the end of this week's episode of Game of Thrones, it confirmed a long-held fan theory that the former Lord Commander would return after being stabbed to death by his fellow members of the Night's Watch. A Dance with Dragons, George R.R. Martin's book in which Jon's death occurs, came out in 2011, so book readers have had five years to speculate about what might happen to him.

Since the episode aired, a subset of fans has put forth a theory that when Jon was stabbed, he actually warged into his direwolf Ghost, who glanced up at Jon's body immediately before the resurrection. But now actor Kit Harington has shot that theory down in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, and beware — what he says spoils a little bit of an upcoming episode:

“At first, I was worried that he’ll wake up and he’s the same, back to normal — then there’s no point in that death. He needs to change. There’s a brilliant line when Melisandre asks: ‘What did you see?’ And he says: ‘Nothing, there was nothing at all.’ That cuts right to our deepest fear, that there’s nothing after death. And that’s the most important line in the whole season for me. Jon’s never been afraid of death, and that’s made him a strong and honorable person. He realizes something about his life now: He has to live it, because that’s all there is. He’s been over the line and there’s nothing there. And that changes him. It literally puts the fear of god into him. He’s seen oblivion and that’s got to change somebody in the most fundamental way there is. He doesn’t want to die ever again. But if he does, he doesn’t want to be brought back.”

Obviously we have to take everything Harington says with a grain of salt since he blatantly lied about Jon's fate, but this seems A) like something that is going to happen on this coming week's episode of the show, and B) not a major "secret" that's theoretically worth lying about to preserve. But the idea that Jon comes back as a fundamentally changed person is good news, because it gives the whole death and resurrection subplot some meaning and hopefully will give the character a new perspective on how to move forward.

Watch Harington answer the question in the video below — which, weirdly, contains slightly different wording than what EW typed out in their written section (which I copied and pasted above):

A few days ago, YouTuber PhilySteak cut together a video using audio from the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer and video from the 1990s X-Men: The Animated Series, and aside from a scant few blown frames here and there, it turned out pretty well. X-fans of a certain age are definitely going to dig this.

Thanks to Apocalypse writer/producer Simon Kinberg for sharing this on Twitter.

Kylo Ren is Not Amused By These 7 Delightfully Awful Han Solo Dad Jokes

Over the past few months, the term "dad jokes" has come to describe the kind of cheesy, often-pun-filled joke that most of you wouldn't even dare tell your closest friends because of how awful they are. But there are those who find a special joy in these delightfully terrible bits of humor, and they've compiled a bunch of them into a Star Wars: The Force Awakens meme involving Han and (spoiler alert) Ben Solo (aka Kylo Ren), with an unamused Kylo killing Han after the punch line.

Here are the seven "best" dad jokes I've seen from this meme so far.

Lucasfilm Officially Casts Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo

Last month it was rumored that Hail, Caesar! star Alden Ehrenreich was the top choice to play Han Solo in the Star Wars spinoff film being developed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Well, the rumors were true, and the actor has officially been cast in the role!

Ehrenreich will be filling some pretty big shoes as the only Han Solo fans have ever known is Harrison Ford. It's going to be really strange seeing another actor portray this iconic character, but I think Ehrenreich is going to be great. I enjoyed his performance in Hail, Caesar! and I trust that Lucasfilm cast him because he's got what it takes to bring a younger version of Solo to life.

We don't know any plot details on the film yet, but we know that it is set before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and that his pal Chewbacca will be included in the film. Production on the film isn't set to start until January of 2017, but apparently this version of Solo might make his first on-screen appearance in the form of a cameo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

I'm happy that Ehrenreich got the part and can't wait to see him in the role! The Han Solo film is scheduled to be released on May 25th, 2018.

Seth MacFarlane Set to Star in His Own Sci-Fi Space Dramedy

For all of you Seth MacFarlane fans out there, we have some good news for you. According to Deadline, Fox TV has agreed to bring us the untitled 13 episode, hour-long, live action space dramedy written/produced/starring MacFarlane. Here is what they had to say:

The untitled series originated as a hot spec, written by MacFarlane. It was quickly snatched up by Fox, which, along with 20th TV, is overseen by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, longtime supporters of MacFarlane in their previous role running the studio. Set 300 years in the future, the show follows the adventures of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar fleet. Facing cosmic challenges from without and within, this motley crew of space explorers will boldly go where no comedic drama has gone before.

I am a self-proclaimed “on the fence” fan of MacFarlane’s work. He is funny, but I am not dying for his next big thing to come out. This premise, however, seems like it could be funny. I am not going to put all of my eggs in one basket and say that it is going to be the funniest thing since Holy Grail, but the synopsis has me interested.

Filming is set to start at the end of this year with a yet to be determined release date.

Apparently, Kevin Smith thinks Ice Cube would make an awesome Green Lantern. A bunch of fans started tweeting artist Boss Logic about this bit of info, so he went ahead and created this cool image imagining the actor as the John Stewart version of Green Lantern. Smith saw the art and responded with the following:

Would it be amazing, though? Look, I’m a big fan of Ice Cube, but even after seeing this image, it’s still hard to imagine him in a cosmic superhero role like this. He just doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to take on a role like this. It would definitely make the character interesting, though. What do you think?

New Trailer for NOW YOU SEE ME 2; New Clip Shows First Minute of the Film

Lionsgate has released a fun new trailer for Now You See Me 2 as well as a clip from the film that shows you the first minute of the movie. I actually almost got to see the sequel at CinemaCon last month. Leading up to the screening, I got to watch magician David Copperfield perform a magic trick about 10 feet in front of me, and it completely blew me away. He introduced the film and about 15 minutes into it, they shut the screening down and asked everyone to leave due to a backpack that someone accidentally left behind. Security thought it was bomb.

I was excited to see this! I really enjoyed the first one and I loved what I saw in the first 15-minutes. I was really into the movie so I’m excited about getting to see the rest of the film when it’s released.

THE FOUR HORSEMEN (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan) return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than WALTER MABRY (Daniel Radcliffe), a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.

The movie was directed by Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), and it also stars Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, Jay Chou, and Morgan Freeman. It will be released in theaters on June 10th, 2016.

Cyberpunk Music Video Pays Tribute to BLADE - BLACK TIGER SEX MACHINE

Nguyen-Anh Nguyen, the writer and director of The Akira Project and the short film "Temple," has released his latest project for us to enjoy. It’s a music video he directed for the group Numbers for a song called "Black Tiger Sex Machine."

The video is a stylish and visually awesome homage to the movie Blade and the opening of the film. It’s got a very heavy cyberpunk vibe to it, and there’s a little touch of Star Wars in there as well. This is the note that came along with the music video:

Prepare to enter the world of the BTSM Church in the new video for "Numbers". Being big-time fans of sci-fi, action and horror movies, BTSM wanted to pay homage to one of their childhood favorites, Blade. This video transposes the legendary opening sequence of this action thriller into Black Tiger Sex Machine's universe. Are you infected?

Nguyen did a great job and made an awesome music video that I think fans of Blade will really enjoy. I’m looking forward to seeing what project he does next!

Jared Leto Cast as Lestat in INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Reboot?

Yesterday, director Josh Boone posted an image of his completed script for the Interview With The Vampire reboot that he's been working on. Now it seems as if Boone has already cast the actor who will play Lestat. He posted an image on his Twitter feed of Jared Leto with the caption: “Lestat - there can be only one. #JaredLeto.” You can see that tweet below:

I don’t know if this is just wishful thinking on his part and he’s trying to get fans railed up, or if Leto will actually be playing the character in these upcoming Vampire Chronicles film adaptations.

Before this was posted Anne Rice’s son Christopher Rice prepared fans for some big announcements to come with the following tweet:

So maybe this Jared Leto casting is the real deal. If it is, he’s freakin’ perfect for the part! I thought Tom Cruise was great as Lestat in the 1994 film, but I can totally get behind and support Leto in the role. I think he’s the best actor they could have chosen for the part, and he’ll bring the character to the big screen again in the best possible way. The guy is an incredibly talented actor. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out.

What do you all think about Leto taking on the role of Lestat?

Joan Crawford Vs. Bette Davis in New Ryan Murphy Anthology Series FEUD

Ryan Murphy, the creator of anthology series such as American Horror Story and American Crime Story, has created a third anthology series he’s producing alongside Brad Pitt called Feud, which sounds absolutely fascinating.

The series will explore the stories of famous feuds between people. The first season will focus on the legendary rivalry between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. Jessica Lange will be taking on the role of Crawford, and Susan Sarandon will play Davis. That’s perfect casting!

cdn.indiewire.psdops.jpg
o-JESSICA-LANGE-facebook.jpg

It will tell the story of how Crawford and Davis came together in 1962 “to collaborate on a picture each hoped would revive their careers. The result, the critically acclaimed and box office smash What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? ultimately received five Academy Awards nominations and became a cult classic. But for its leads, Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, the real horror was working together.

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? is such an incredible a creepy-ass film. If you have not seen it you need to check it out when you get a chance. I’m not really familiar with any of the behind-the-scenes stories of the film, but if they are dedicating an 8-episode season to it, there’s sure to be some good stuff! You can read about the feud here if you don’t want to wait for the TV show.

The series also stars Alfred Molina, who will play the film’s director Robert Aldrich. Stanley Tucci will portray studio titan Jack Warner, Judy Davis will play a gossip columnist named Hedda Hopper, and Dominic Burgess will be Crawford and Davis’ co-star Victor Buono.

FX Networks CEO John Landgraf had this to say in a statement:

“Feud adds a third and equally ambitious franchise to Ryan’s unprecedented slate of FX anthological limited series and marks our third such collaboration with studio partner 20th Century Fox Television/Fox 21. The series will offer a seductive, insightful look at what lies behind legendary personality conflicts.”

This is such a great concept for a series and I can’t wait to see the outcome of it. Murphy will direct several episodes and production on this first installment is scheduled to begin this fall for a 2017 premiere.

New Details on Darth Vader's Appearance in STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE

$

We've been hearing bits and pieces about Darth Vader's appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story for quite some time. One big piece of news previously described his involvement as "brutal." Today we have a new bit of information about the villain to share with you that Star Wars fan will find interesting.

The news comes from Making Star Wars, who claims to have seen actual photos of Darth Vader in the film. If you don't want to know what these details are, don't read ahead because these are possible SPOILERS.

First of all, they describe the look of this Rogue One version of Vader saying that he's exactly what he looked like in A New Hope:

The costume is the A New Hope costume down to the fine details. The upper armor has the tunic going over the top of the shoulders, just as it did in Episode IV. The belt buckle is the same. The inside of the cape is that shiny type of material. The gloves are identical and not like the ones in the following films. The lights on the belt are the same. The chest piece’s lights match perfectly. The mask is not like the symmetrical Revenge of the Sith mask; it appears to look just like the original did. The neck of the mask and the widow’s peak are all there. The lenses have that amber look to them.

That's not all! Apparently, Vader was actually teased in the teaser trailer that was released for Rogue One. We don't see him, but there a scene in which he's about to be revealed. The report explains:

One source is certain that the blue tank we see in the teaser has Darth Vader inside it. This person has a lot of material associated with the production. They believe a sequence was filmed in which Darth Vader gets his limbs interchanged and repaired in the movie.

That's a pretty fun piece of info, and it will be interesting to see how that scene plays out. It makes sense with the two red imperial guards standing on either side of the tank. Apparently Darth Vader's meditation chamber from The Empire Strikes Back has also been recreated for the movie. The question is... will we see the face of Anakin Skywalker at some point in the movie? Earlier this year there were rumors that Hayden Christensen might reprise his role in Star Wars: Episode VIII and if that's the case, he could also possibly appear in Rogue One. None of that has been confirmed, though.

What we know for sure, though, is that Spencer Wilding of Guardians of the Galaxy will be the man in the suit playing Vader and that James Earl Jones will return to provide the character's voice.

I'm intrigued by Darth Vader's involvement in this story, and I can't wait to see how exactly he will be utilized. What do you think of this most recent set of Darth Vader rumors?

Tom Cruise's THE MUMMY Reboot Gets an Official Synopsis from Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures has released an official synopsis for Tom Cruise's upcoming reboot of The Mummy, which is currently in production in London. The Mummy is the first film in a new Monster cinematic universe that the studio is building and here's that synopsis:

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

I'm such a huge fan of these classic monsters, and I'm kind of nervous about the studio screwing these films up. I hate that they are set in modern day. It kind of takes some of the magic out of these classic monsters that many of us grew up with.

Cruise is also joined by Annabelle Wallis (Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur, Annabelle), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), and Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson). Yesterday we learned that Russell Crowe was also in early talks to join the cast as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. The Mummy is being directed by Alex Kurtzman from a script written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus).

Universal's monster cinematic universe also includes The Wolfman, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, and Van Helsing, all of which are in various stages of development. The Mummy is set to be released on June 9th, 2017.

Major Marvel Character Accidentally Confirmed for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

I don't mean for the title of this article to be "click bait," but I don't want the spoiler sensitive souls out there to hunt me down and kill me for spoiling something in the title.

That being said, this bit of news regarding Avengers: Infinity War is kind of obvious to me and I'm sure to some other fans as well, but just in case... SPOILERS ahead.

While attending an event at the Smithsonian Institute, the Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo's were talking about their upcoming Marvel film Infinity War. While talking about the movie they just happened to mention Captain Marvel. A fan jumped in and asked if they just confirmed Captain Marvel for the movie to which Russo replied, "Um....Captain Barvel. Totally different character."

Captain Barvel actually does kind of sound like a superhero that could exist in the Marvel universe but it doesn't, so Captain Marvel it is! But... wouldn't it be hilarious if a Captain Barvel did show up!?

You can read all of the reactions to the Russo's accidental reveal here. Like I said, knowing that we are getting a Captain Marvel solo film before Infinity War comes out, it was safe to assume that she would play a part in the story. I guess it's nice to have confirmation, though!

There's some crazy stuff going on in this trailer! The Wailing is a thriller-style horror film that involves vicious murder, possession, and the supernatural. Here's a description...

The arrival of a mysterious stranger (Chun Woo-hee) in an otherwise quiet village coincides with a rash of vicious murders, causing panic and suspicion amongst the villagers. When the daughter of investigating officer Jong-Goo (Kwak Do-won) falls under the same savage spell, he calls for a shaman (Hwang Jung-min) to assist in finding the culprit.

The description tells you more than the trailer, but the trailer is intense! Supposedly it gets even more twisted from there...check it out! Thanks to Bloody Disgusting for bringing this one to our attention!
