Will Smith has once again proven that he is the king of sci-fi action thrillers with Alex Proyas' I, Robot. The film recently arrived on Blu-ray in 3D and I had the chance to check it out. Unfortunately, I missed this film in theaters when it was first released, but have since seen it a number of times on the small screen. Watching it on Blu-ray surpasses all past viewings and on top of that, it has been converted to 3D.
Isaac Asimov's short story collection is the inspiration for this film that also stars Bridget Moynahan, Alan Tudyk, Bruce Greenwood, James Cromwell and Chi McBride. The film is set in the year 2035, robots are an everyday household item, and everyone trusts them, except one, slightly paranoid detective (Smith) investigating what he alone believes is a crime perpetrated by a robot. The case leads him to discover a far more frightening threat to the human race.
Unfortunately, the disc does not come with any new special features. The original features from the initial DVD release have been ported over. They include an audio commentary with director Alex Proyas and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, The Making of 'I, Robot,' a still gallery, and a trailer for Arrested Development.
