Looks like Francis Lawrence will go straight from directing The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to directing The Hungry Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2. The two films are currently being written by Danny Strong. This news comes from Collider, who notes that Lawrence is willing and ready to move forward with the tight production schedule that seemed to scare Gary Ross away.
This was my least favorite book of the series, so it's hard to be excited about the fact that it's being split into two movies. Are you looking forward to the films?
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, is set to be released November 21st, 2014 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, on November 20th, 2015.
Here's the description of the book that the third and fourth films will be based off of:
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.
