This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend screenings of Guillermo del Toro's The Devi's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth. The director was in attendance to do a Q&A in-between the films. During the Q&A, he discussed his career, the things that inspired him to make his movies, his interest in the occult, some real life ghost stories, and also talked about a couple of projects he's trying to get off the ground such as his Justice League Dark film Heaven Sent, as well as his HBO series Monster. It's always entertaining listening to Del Toro talk about his life, career, and films. I recorded the whole thing for you to check out.

During the event, they also showed an incredibly badass new trailer for Pacific Rim that is sure to hit the internet in the near future. It was packed full of some cool new footage that you're sure to love!

When discussing Heaven Sent, he once again talked about the characters saying his script features Constantine, Swamp Thing, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, and Zantanna. He also said that there is a couple of other characters in the film as well that he wouldn't reveal because it would apparently spoil some things, so he's keeping it under his hat for now. Hopefully Warner Bros. likes the script so that Del Toro can make this movie!

As for his HBO Monster project, he said that he submitted the script for the pilot to HBO last week and that they’re reading it right now. He also says his version is very respectful to Naoki Urasawa's Japanese Manga series. The thriller "is about the worldwide search by a young doctor for the most evil sociopath that has ever lived. He is a 12-year old boy, and the doctor’s decision to save his life has unwittingly unleashed a Pandora’s Box that leaves the doc battling to stop a plot of mass genocide."

As cool as it is to get updates on these movies, the most interesting stuff involved Del Toro talking about his approach to filmmaking and his stubbornness when working with studios. It's all in the video below, I apologize for the low sound quality in our video. In case you have a hard time hearing, I also included an audio only version with better sound quality thanks to WhySoBluTube. If you're a fan of Del Toro and his films, then this is something you'll want to listen to.
