Last week we learned that Christopher Nolan wanted Matthew McConaughey to star in his new sci-fi film project Interstellar. As expected, McConaughey has confirmed that he's taken the role. When talking to the Star Tribune the actor was asked if he accepted the role, and he simply said "I’m confirming." He offered no other details, which is normal for any Nolan film.
As of right now all that we know about the story is that it's based on scientific theories developed by Cal Tech physicist, Kip Thorne, and follows a group of explorers who travel through a wormhole. It's also being described as "a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding." Knowing the films Nolan makes it's sure to melt our brains a little.
McConaughey is a solid actor that started his career making good movies, then for some reason ended up making a bunch of crappy movies that made me not like him, but now he's back making good movies again! Doing this movie is going to be one of the best moves of his career. I'm happy to hear that he took the role, and I'm excited to see what Nolan is planning for us!
