The Descendents co-star Judy Greer is the latest actress to join the cast of director Matt Reeves' Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. According to Vulture she will take on a supporting role in the story, playing a female chimp named Cornelia who is the love interest for Caesar (Andy Serkis). She and Serkis previously worked together in 13 Going 30. Obviously they'll both be wearing motion-capture suits for their parts.

The actress also joins the previously cast actors Keri Russell, Jason Clarke, Kodi-Smit McPhee, and Gary Oldman. Greer is excited to take on the role, and here's what she had to say about it,

For so long I haven't been able to say anything about it, so this is exciting! It's a very different kind of work than I'm used to. I'm not going to be wearing Manolo Blahniks in this one.

I married a man who … I'm gonna use the word obsessed. He is obsessed with Planet of the Apes. We had a chimp husband-and-wife cake topper at our wedding. At the cocktail hour, we played Planet of the Apes and Rise of the Planet of the Apes on two separate televisions in the bar area. And on the wedding gift I bought him, a vintage Rolex, I had it engraved, 'Ape shall not kill ape.' I was then told that, technically, it's 'Ape shall never kill ape,' but there wasn't enough space for engraving purposes.

Her husband is probably more excited about her being in the movie than she is! The sequel is set 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. They also reveal that one part of the story will focus on a "group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco." The other part of the story will center on "intelligent ape Caesar [who struggles to] maintain dominance over his kingdom."

Fox has set the film for release on May 23rd, 2014.
