Jay Baruchel has announced that he's currently working on a sequel to his hockey film Goon that he made with co-writer Evan Goldberg, director Michael Dowse and actors Seann William Scott and Liev Schreiber. I really enjoyed the film, and if the sequel ends up getting made, I'd watch it!
The sequel news originated at PlaybackOnline, who said a script was in the works. Baruchel retweeted the article and then sent out follow up tweet saying,
Though I do feel the need to clarify something from the last article I posted, GOON 2 will be written by @jessechabot and myself.
This time around Goldberg will only be involved as a producer on the project, but confirmed that Dowse would be back to direct. The writer/actor then went on to express his excitement for the sequel and what they are planning to give the fans...
Please know this: GOON is pretty close to sacred for all of us involved and we would only be entertaining the idea of continuing the saga if we were all equally convinced that Doug, Laflamme, Stevesy, the Russians, Rolie, Ogilvy Belchy and Eva were only getting started. We will give them and you guys the epic, violent, heartfelt awesomeness that is not just deserved but required. HIGH. LAND. ERS.
I have no doubt these guys will bring us an equally if not more entertaining sequel than the first. What did you think of the first movie? And are you excited to hear they are making a sequel? If you haven't watched Goon yet you should definitely check it out! It's currently available on Instant Netflix.
