I'm a fan of Andrew Niccol who directed the sci-fi film Gattacca, and I really want to believe that he has what it takes to turn Twilight author Stephanie Meyer's mediocre sci-fi alien love story The Host into an enjoyable film. Thankfully this newest full trailer makes the movie look better than what I was expecting, but I'm still not completely sold. It features a lot of new footage that includes some plot points, very shiny cars, and Saoirse Ronan kicking ass.
The film has a solid cast that also includes Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger, William Hurt, and Frances Fisher. Here's the synopsis,
From Stephenie Meyer (author of The Twilight Saga) comes The Host, a love story set in the future, where Earth is occupied by a species who erase the minds of their human hosts, leaving their bodies intact. Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) is one of the last surviving humans who fights back, risking her life for the people she cares about most – Jared (Max Irons), Ian (Jake Abel), her brother Jamie (Chandler Canterbury) and her Uncle Jeb (William Hurt) – proving that love can conquer all.
The movie is set to be released on March 29th, 2013.
