Sony Pictures is developing a new film inspired by Charles Dickens’ classic novel Oliver Twist. The movie will be called Dodge & Twist, and it will have the same kind of feel and vibe as Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. The movie will feature the characters from the book, but it will be more of an action-adventure film.
The story follows pickpocketing rivals Oliver Twist and Artful Dodger and the new film "re-imagines them 20 years down the road. The two are on opposite sides of the law and get embroiled in an affair to steal the Crown Jewels."
This sounds like it could be a really cool movie. I've always loved the book, and the characters, and I think it will be really cool to see a film based on what happened to them 20 years down the road. The concept for the film came from producer Ahmet Zappa, and the script is being written by Cole Haddon who recently created an upcoming NBC series called Dracula.
The film is on the fast track to production, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the movie turns out! Red Bull is also producing an Oliver movie that will include the physical art of parkour to carry out a series of art thefts.
