Marvel has found their leading lady for Captain America: The Winter Soldier! Emily VanCamp is the lucky girl who will be making her leap from the small screen to the big screen. The actress is best known for her role in ABC's drama thriller Revenge.
There's no confirmation on what character she'll play, but it's been speculated that it will be Sharon Carter, the niece of Margaret "Peggy" Carter who was played by Hayley Atwell in the first Captain America film. At one point Anna Kendrick (Scott Pilgrim, The Twilight Saga), Felicity Jones (Like Crazy, Cemetery Junction, The Tempest), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abby), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), Alison Brie (Community) and Imogen Poots (Fright Night, 28 Weeks Later) were all rumored to be up for the lead female role.
I actually think it's great VanCamp landed the part, I've liked her in the shows Revenge and Everwood. She's a solid young actress, and I think she'll do great in the film. What do you think of her being cast in the film?
Anthony and Joe Russo will direct franchise newcomers Anthony Mackie in the role of the Falcon and Frank Grillo as Crossbones. Also along for the ride are characters from Marvel's The Avengers, including Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and Cobie Smulders. The film arrives in 2D and 3D theaters on April 4, 2014.
