Where Are All The New American Action Heroes?

Christian Bale, Andrew Garfield, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth...all heroes...none American.

Sylvestor Stallone, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, Jeremy Renner, Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson...all American heroes...all over 40. Are there any Americans in Hollywood that are under 40 to be our new action stars?!

Well, yeah, obviously...(Age: 34)

Fair enough... (Age: 31)

Meh...okay. (Age:30)

YOU'RE JOKING...(Age: 20)

As a male in my early 20s, I think I know where the American action heroes are going: into extinction. Taylor Lautner isn't the only young guy these days rocking the tight suit look and choosing poetry over Point Break, lattes over leg presses, and writing blogs over... wait.

The other young male archetypes? The ones who are in shape are busy training for their MMA debut or fights in their local bar parking lot, and the gamers, well...

What do you want from us, America? We were raised thinking we were the creme de la creme of the mating pool. Life got easier and we got soft, so we stuck to using phrases like 'creme de la creme' and started groups like Bronies to find outlets for our odd repressed male thoughts. I'm not proud of it, just telling it like it is! I'd like to say that this might shame some of us into changing for the better to usher in an ultra badass new generation of action film stars, but I'm not even convincing myself right now!

The truth is, our generation isn't built for such wear and tear...and we're cool with that. How? you ask. How do we survive in this brave new world where women have to deal with a less than Adonis kind of man? We changed the game. Don't believe us? Three words.

Quirky.

Intellectual.

Geeky.
