Here's a high resolution photo of a previously released image of Hugh Jackman looking like a badass in a slick looking suit in The Wolverine. The guy is ready to throw down. The photo was featured in this month's Empire magazine. One of the producers of the film Hutch Parker explained the story in a little bit more detail in an interview,
We pick up Logan in a very isolated state, full of self-loathing. He is sought out by a young Asian woman for reasons he doesn't fully understand, who is asking him to follow her to Japan where he is meant to reconnect with someone from his past.
And what you'll come to find is that this is someone he spent prison-time with in Nagasaki. And the legacy of that experience - effectively Logan saved him - is that this man is on his deathbed, and is looking to give him a gift, to thank him for the life he's had.
But this gift draws Logan into a very complex and very unexpected world within both contemporary Japan and, to some extent, the feudal history of Japan. He's so in isolation, so out of his element. It's a much more powerful distillation of his character than you've seen before.
Hugh Jackman added,
I still don't think we've seen the definitive Wolverine. And the longer I play the character, the more the desire to get him right grows. The more I speak to fans and explore his world, the more it means to me. I understand the character and the legacy and I don't feel, up to this movie, that we've completely lived up to that. So that's what I intend to do.
The Wolverine is being directed by James Mangold, and also stars Will Yun Lee, Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, and Brian Tee. It's set to hit theaters on July 26th, 2013.
