Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill recently sat down with Empire Magazine to discuss a handful of topics about their upcoming highly anticipated action adventure film that many of you are excited about... Man of Steel.

When talking about Clark Kent/Superman's relationship with Lois Lane, Snyder wouldn't give much information, but he did explain that saying too much about it would give "a bit of the DNA of the movie away. Suffice to say, whether it is Superman or Kal-El or Clark Kent, we wanted to make him cooler. You'll have to wait and see the why of it. [Amy Adams] is everything you would hope for from Lois Lane." When Cavill was asked about it, all he would say is "I can't talk about that too much. I don't want to be giving away the idea of the film too early, but Amy is a great actress, very professional, a pleasure to work with..." Not much else was said about the on screen relationship other than that.

The conversation then moved on to Superman's flight, and they were asked if they would explain how Superman flies in the film. David Goyer explained, "We worked out things for our own purposes. But that is not that important. It's interesting that he doesn't know how he flies. He didn't grow up on Krypton." Cavill went on to say, "The tricky thing is there is a sense of awe and also a sense of being frightened." Snyder went on to reveal that he used little to no wire work in the movie. He decided that "Superman cannot do anything that is not visual effects." Goyer went on to explain their approach on the story saying,

We're approaching Superman as if it weren't a comic book movie as if it were real.... I adore the Donner films. Absolutely adore them. It just struck me that there was an idealist quality to them that may or may not work with today's audience. It just struck me that if Superman really existed in the world, first of all this story would be a story about first contact. He's an alien. You can easily imagine a scenario in which we'd be doing a film like E.T., as opposed to him running around in tights. If the world found out he existed, it would be the biggest thing that ever happened in human history.

I am incredibly excited to see Superman reclaim the screen! It hits theaters on June 14th, 2013. The image above might be our first look at Adams as Lois Lane, it could be a fake though. It comes from Desde Hollywood, who claims that "the image comes from a black and white booklet printed and passed around in an event honoring Amy Adams."

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.
