Looks like we can add Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum to the mix of actors up for the role of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy! Rosenbaum confirmed the news himself via his Twitter account saying...
Read for my pal @jamesgunn GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY for PETER QUILL. What a treat! Thanks Jimmy. @marvel

Yesterday we learned that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was also up for the same role. Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (Lincoln and The Hobbit), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men), and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom) have also been mentioned as being up for the part.
I guess this part could really go to anyone, but there's several other roles in the film that need to be cast, and maybe some of these actors will be put in other roles as well. I guess we'll find out sometime in the near future.
Rosenbaum is best know for playing Lex Luthor in Smallville. He's a solid actor that I'd like to see get cast in more stuff. Not sure if he'll make the cut for Star-Lord, but wouldn't it be cool if he did?
