A&E has released the first full promo trailer for their new series Bates Motel, which as you know is based on Alfred Hitchcock's classic psychological horror thriller Psycho. I really liked what I saw in this first trailer, and it looks like it's going to be an awesomely well made twisted series. The video below also includes a behind the scenes look at the show.
The new show gives us the background story of Norman Bates dark past, from childhood through his teen years. It will follow how his mother and her lover screwed Norman up, turning him into the crazy serial killer that he became. It was also reveal that the story also won't be limited just to what occurs in the rooms of the motel. It will also focus on the the town itself. Carlton Cuse (Lost) says, "There are a lot of secrets that lurk beneath this bucolic veneer."
The cast includes Freddie Highmore as a young Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga as his mother Norma Bates, as well as Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell, Mike Vogel, Olivia Cooke and Max Thieriot.
Bates Motel, serves as a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film, “Pyscho,” and promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years.
Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand just how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is and how she helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.
The first episode is called "First You Dream, Then You Die", and here's this description, “Norma Bates buys a motel on the outskirts of an idyllic coastal town seeking a fresh start with her teenage son, the handsome and shy Norman.”
The series is set to premiere in 2013.
