Universal Picture has released two new TV spots for Les Misérables with new footage and announced that the film will be getting a limited IMAX release in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal. IMAX released the following statement,
Universal's Les Miserables is a captivating cinematic event that is an ideal fit for The IMAX Experience. The enhanced visual spectrum and precise, powerful IMAX sound will transport audiences to 19th-century France, where they will feel as if they are there on set as Tom Hooper's ensemble cast performs Les Mis' classic soundtrack.
The movie stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen. There's no doubt it will be a beautifully shot film with a wonderful story, I'm just hoping that Crowe's singing won't be too distracting.
The movie opens up on Christmas day, and I'm looking forward to it.
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption—a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
