Earlier this month, news broke that Jamie Foxx was up for the role of Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This was surprising at first, but the more I've thought about it, the more I like the idea. I hope it happens. Foxx wants it to happen as well. Access Hollywood caught up with the actor and learned that even though he wants to do it, things aren't locked into place yet.
Fingers crossed it all works out, ...I have a little daughter, four years old, and what’s crazy is like, this past year she had a birthday where Spider-Man was the theme... I haven’t sprung it on her yet, but she will go crazy!
Not sure why things aren't locked into place yet, but I imagine it's money. Foxx isn't a cheap actor to get. In fact, if he's cast, he'll probably end up making more money than the other lead actors and the director combined.
This will be the first time Electro will be seen on the big screen. Max Dillon became Electro after being struck by a bolt of lightening. Instead of being killed, he gained the ability to control electricity. The character was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man #9" in February 1964.
Harry Osborn still hasn't been cast, though there are a few actors that have been revealed to be up for the role. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are set to reprise their roles, and Shailene Woodley has joined the cast as Mary Jane Watson. Marc Webb will direct the film from a script from Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, and James Vanderbilt. The movie will be released on May 2nd, 2014!
