Remember in 1991 When Nintendo Was Destroying the Youth of America?

When the Nintendo Entertainment System was released, I didn't have one of my own, so I was over at my friend's house all day and all night playing video games. It was awesome! Except for the one time when we were on the verge of beating Zelda, and I forgot to hold down the Reset button to save it before I turned off the system and lost all our progress. That sucked.

Anyway, I don't think my parents ever thought it was destroying me. It was stuff like Nintendo that shaped me into the proud geek that I am today. Apparently in 1991, other parents were taking their poor kids to therapy sessions because of the negative effects they thought Nintendo was having on them.

An old news special report has surfaced online that I thought was absolutely hilarious. It's funny to think that in 1991 parents thought video games had gone too far, with the awesome new graphics, peer pressure, exploitative marketing, and high prices. There are a lot of great things about this video that I'm sure you'll get a laugh at.

In 1991, local newsstation reports Nintendo released their successor to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in America. But the parents weren't too happy about it. The parents thought Nintendo was exploiting their children into buying new and expensive hardware for new games when the improvements to the new hardware were obvious.

These same 90s parents must have freaked the hell out when the Internet came into play. We've sure come a long way since PacMan.
