Will George Clooney Play Nikola Tesla in Brad Bird's 1952?

As we previously reported, George Clooney is in talks with Disney to join the mysterious Brad Bird-directed film 1952, which is now being developed under the code name Tesla. This is not the official title, but there's speculation that Clooney might be playing Nikola Tesla. This isn't official, but we can speculate and discuss it. From what we know, Clooney would play a "man searching for extra-terrestrials on Earth," and the actor definitely looks like he could be Tesla.

Now for those of you who don't know, Tesla built some kind of radio machine while living in Colorado Springs that he called a Magnifying Transmitter, and he claimed to have received signals from Mars from it. As you know, the movie will revolve around aliens making contact with earth.

Then there's also a book written by Tim Swartz called The Lost Journals of Nikola Tesla, which has established Tesla as a UFO-hunting guru in the imaginations of many UFO buffs. I personally don't think that Clooney will be playing Tesla in the film, but it's safe to say his character in the movie might be inspired by the famous inventor.

From what we've heard, the story will be set in the present day, and Bird and Damon Lindelof want to recapture the spirit of 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, right down to centering it around a man in his late forties, like Richard Dreyfuss’s Roy Neary. That would be the man Clooney would play.

There's more of a fun and mysterious backstory behind this movie that you can read here if you haven't already. I'm very excited about this film project, and I can't wait to see what the actual story behind it is. What do you think about this whole Clooney and Tesla connection?
